Cool Car of the Week (Merged)
    Posted by: nickdaddyg - 6th January 2003, 6:53 PM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (31)

    This week we have the:

    PORSCHE 911 GT2!

(2002 model shown, 2003 is same)

Wow! 0-60 in 3.85 seconds, quarter mile in 11.9 seconds. Top speed 196 mph. (With quick gear ratios changes howver, that could go 200 for sure, but the acceleration would be slower)

Powered by a 3.6 liter flat 6 cylinder engine with twin turbochargers. The engine makes 456 horsepower, which is a lot. More than a shitty Corvette or Viper (except the 2003 Viper, although this car is still faster)
A cool thing about it and all 911 Porsches is that the engine is houses in the rear of the car. Luggage goes under the normal hood. Plus direct power given to the rear axle without a drive shaft.

NOTE: (in a V6 the cylinders are lined in two groups of three like this \ /. in a flat they are fallened sideways like so _ _)

    Here it is:

Looking for a program that can convert wma files into mp3s...
    Posted by: Sacred Jellybean - 6th January 2003, 12:19 PM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (6)

Honestly, I hate Microsoft. They have to create they're own file for their operating system in time for the boom of the internet so they can further attempt to take control.

*sigh* Is there a program out there that can convert wma files into mp3s?

      Jim Merrick Leaves NOA
    Posted by: Laser Link - 6th January 2003, 10:33 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (36)

...and takes over as the new European Marketing & Networks Director of NOE. Misleading headlines are fun. The press release:

Quote:(6th January 2003) Leading global gaming company Nintendo has announced today that it has appointed a new European Marketing & Networks Director, Jim Merrick, effective from January. He will be responsible for all pan-European marketing activities across 18 countries and will co-ordinate the top-line strategy across advertising, promotions, online, direct marketing and retail.

A longstanding employee of Nintendo of America, the role sees Jim Merrick transfer his skills to Nintendo of Europe, bringing with him a wealth of marketing management experience from his previous role as Nintendo Network Marketing Director, based in Seattle. In this capacity, Merrick was the chief technical member of an international innovation and product development team for two years, in addition to working closely with other divisions and partners in Japan, North America and Europe to explore the potential of various networking opportunities. Prior to this, Merrick spent six years as Technical Director for Nintendo of America, a key member of their management team with numerous responsibilities including defining, creating and implementing systems to support Nintendo's software quality assurance.

Prior to joining Nintendo, Merrick spent seven years as a Software Engineer at CAD/CAM software developer, 4D Graphics in Washington. As a core member of the product design and management team, he was responsible for determining release content, timing and overall strategic direction. From this position Merrick joined Nintendo of America.

Merrick will continue to build on the success of Nintendo GameCube, and will be focusing on the major upcoming games such as Metroid Prime, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and 1080° Avalanche. He will also continue to drive the phenomenal success of Game Boy Advance, which is the fastest selling console ever. Merrick will work closely with Nintendo's subsidiaries, distributors and agencies to ensure a continued integrated brand presence for the company's biggest franchises including NINTENDO GAMECUBE, Game Boy Advance, Pokémon and Mario.

David Gosen, Managing Director of Sales and Marketing for Nintendo of Europe comments: "Nintendo is moving into a very exciting, creative and innovative time. Jim brings with him a wealth of brand experience and understanding of the market that will ensure a fully integrated marketing drive as Nintendo looks to its next era of gaming."

So if Jim Merrick is no longer working on the whole online planning, I would guess that either:
    A) Nintendo finished it up and is ready to unveil it, maybe at the Tuesday press conference.
    B) They canned the whole idea and banished him to Europe for his failure.

Think there is anything to this? Discuss.

      Star Wars vs Star Trek
Posted by: A Black Falcon - 5th January 2003, 9:04 PM - Forum: Den of the Philociraptor - Replies (120)

Replacing the AotC vs Nemesis thread lost when the board was reset.

I like both... but Star Wars is better. Any Star Wars movie (except maybe PM) is better than any Star Trek movie... the Trek movies are fine movies, but just don't compare to the greatness of the Star Wars series...
Oh, and if Star Wars ships fought Star Trek ones the Star Wars ones would win easy...

This game rocked too, except nobody played it :D.

So then, first to post after this is the host, next 4 to post become the players, then they all do various stuff that the host tells them to. The host can make special rules, using the spoiler tag for hidden stuff for instance, and if the players can't read the spoilers, it's all based on the "honor system". I'm sure we can abide by that. It goes on until the host decides to stop, then it starts with first to post after that being new host, and next 4 being the new players. Okay......begin!

      Pokémon for GameCube this summer!
    Posted by: Smoke - 5th January 2003, 6:37 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (2)

Quote:According to Nikkei Keizai Shimbun, Nintendo will release a Pokemon game for GameCube by the end of summer. The GC version of Pokemon will require a GBA and a copy of Pokemon Sapphire or Ruby.

The price of the game is expected to be cheaper than Pokemon Sapphire and Ruby (around $40 US in Japan).

      The Logic Game Returneth!
    Posted by: Sacred Jellybean - 4th January 2003, 11:20 PM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (2)

This was too fun a game to lose. We must continue!

If anyone forgets, the logic game works like this: one person presents two seemingly unrelated words or phrases with a number of steps, in which another person must use the given number of steps to come up with how the two words or phrases are related.

    For example:

Bob: Holy shit this game is fun! I got one! GREEN-EYED STEPDAUGHTER to LITTLE BOXES OF HI-C in 6 steps!

Billy Joe Henrietta: Whoa, that's a good one! I'll say... Green eyed step daughter > is secretly the nymphomaniac online buddy of Paul Ruben > who's bookie for child sex once dined with George Dubya > who secretly snorted cocain with Goldie Hawn at a recent New Year's party > who's rendered completely useless after sucking all the juice out of > as are little boxes of Hi-C.

This means that the subjects given is inclusive in the number of steps. Which means that the minimum amount of steps one can give is 3. The subjects don't have to be related by people, but that's all my uncreative ass could conjure up. :( But maybe the first person to reply to this thread can do better than me.

DERANGED AND CONFUSED LESBIAN SEX PERFORMED IN AIR PLANE SEATS AS THE FLIGHT IS 10 SECONDS AWAY TO IMMINENTLY CRASHING to EDENMASTER in 5 steps. Go!

I need help with Mario Sunshine
    Posted by: EdenMaster - 4th January 2003, 4:06 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (4)

I know, I know. I'm probably the only person here who has Mario Sunshine and has yet to finish it. What with Starfox, Metroid, Animal Crossing, I just stopped playing after about 70 shines. I popped it in a few days ago and I remembered why I stopped playing. Level three of Pianta Village (The Goopy Inferno). I haven't EVER been able to do that, and I am vehemently against strategy guides. I only buy one after I beat a game to see if there was anything I missed. So the only thing I can think of is to ask you guys for help. So could somebody tell me what to doand how to do it to help me get through the rest of this blasted game?
