Article discusses mostly other topics (how Midway's sports games are going more sim-like because of getting farther away from them having to be arcade games), but this was interesting.
Quote:JD: If I had my way, we'd be online with everything. But, obviously, what we wanted to do is make sure that we cut our teeth well, so PS2 is the logical first system for us to do, so we're going to debut this year on PS2. Getting the tournament structure we wanted to do on Xbox Live proved more complicated that we'd have hoped for, so we've been talking to Microsoft to see if there's a way that we can get it online this year. We don't think there will be, so we'll be debuting probably next year's products with the Xbox Live support. Again, I want to be clear. It's not because we didn't want to do Xbox Live, it's just that because that system works in a different way, we didn't feel like we could do justice this year to our Xbox consumers. We didn't just want to give them a simple, match-up, head-to-head play, we wanted to give them the ultimate online experience. In terms of GameCube, we'd love to do [it for] GameCube as well, and in fact we talked to Nintendo just yesterday about this very thing. Nintendo themselves need to get excited about offering their consumers online, so your GameCube consumers really need to be telling Nintendo that's what they want. They need to get more adapters out there, and they need to be asking Nintendo, "Look, do this for us." Prove to us that there's a market for it. We would love to put this stuff on the GameCube as well. The idea of all these people being able to play each other across platforms would be awesome, too.
Quote:Computer and Video Games has discovered that in Star Fox Armada you will be able to take to foot in a third-person perspective. As Fox McCloud or any of the other Star Fox team you will be able to use high-powered, bazooka-like weapons.
Also, multi-player dogfights will take place on land, foot and in tanks with heavy powered weapons. The game is set to feature the classic characters such as Fox McCloud and Slippy the Toad as well as Star Fox Adventures characters.
This is probably the only third party GameCube game I've ever been excited about. I'm a sucker for arcadey/kart racing, especially when it involves flying like DKR. It even has multiplayer dogfights, which could rock if done right. This looks like it could be just what I've been waiting for, but we'll see if it turns out as good as they say it is. And it also depends on when Mario Kart comes out, because there really is only one Kart King.
Has anyone else started to take an interest in this...? If it's half as fucking incredible as it seems, it'll be, literally and hand down, the fucking best game ever...if you don't know, it's a game that you play online...an enormously massive online game, where you take an minor role in the Star Wars universe, and lead a life...you have a job, a home...exploring enormous worlds; you can choose what race you are, do combat...do whatever you want; like a real 'life simulator', in the Star Wars universe!!
Quote:Mario Golf GC release date
Nintendo of America announced today that they will be shipping Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on June 30 in North America. This may come as a surprise to some, because not many details or screenshots have been released regarding the Camelot-developed title (the folks who brought us Golden Sun). However, more will certainly be on display at this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo, and GAF will bring you the full scoop, including playable characters, course numbers, and new gameplay mechanics.

And boxart from cube-europe:
YES!!
Mario Golf in June, F-Zero in August, then maybe Mario Kart in July?? Wow pretty good, yes? But what about Mario Tennis? Where does that fit in?
Though, I can't really discuss much, given that not many others would have seen it here, so I'll wait for that. But it is definately worth the price to see it.
Nightcrawller kicked ass, Wolverine was his usual bad-ass self, Kelly Hu was hot.
