Remember that great console, the TurboGrafx 16 (or whatever it was called in Europe and Asia)? Well, NEC's back... as a publisher. For the first time in 8 years. Yay.
Oh... their first game is a new Gamecube racing game by the developers of F-Zero Maximum Velocity.
Quote:This morning it was announced that Sega's Xbox version of Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II will be distributed by Microsoft Games Studios. PSO Xbox will launch in March, and will be the first online RPG to feature voice chat with the Xbox Communicator headset
Users will unfortunately also have to pay an additional fee of $8.95 per month (first 2 months are free) on top of the Xbox Live fee to purchase a "hunter's license", to play the game online. It will provides access to a plethora of online exclusive content such as seasonal quests, downloads and rare in-game items.
Both episodes can be played online or offline with up to four gamers. Additional game modes include Challenge and Battle. Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound is also supported in Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II. Oddly enough though, an Xbox Live account is required to play Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II both offline and online.

Who in their right mind would pay an extra $9 a month for PSO on top of the X-Box Live fee? Is it really worth more than Mech Assault or Ghost Recon? I don't think so!
Well, AOL-TimeWarner lost 99 Billion dollars. Discuss how on Earth a company that has a horrible service like AOL and also gives out free months JUST for calling them and saying "I might stop getting this service now" could possibly fail, even with the silver tongue of Ted Turner himself!
"The white people live in the north and the black people live in the south. That's the way bears are, ya know the white bears live in the north, and the black bears live, in the south. That doesn't *heh* mean they aren't both bears right? Heh, yeah that's right." ~ a Ted quote I saw on the Daily Show. I too challenge you to put that IN context!
The last bastions of intelligence have fallen... The first hint was when Discovery and TLC dedicated almost all their time to their 30 new reality shows.
Quote:Japanese Metroid Boxed Check out Samus overseas!
January 30, 2003 - It's now been over two months since U.S. Metroid Prime fans first realized their dreams of controlling Samus on the GameCube. Nintendo's release schedule for the awesome adventure called for a North American debut last November, while the rest of the world was forced to simply wait and endure repeated anxiety attacks. The Japanese version of the game is set to ship in the homeland on February 28, 2003, and it almost doesn't seem fair, does it?
Well, perhaps the tables have turned. American gamers must now look upon the following image and invite feelings of envy into their Metroid-obsessed hearts. Below is the box art that Japanese gamers will find packed neatly onto store shelves next month.
This alternate Samus pose is one of our favorites, and we think you'd be crazy not to love it yourself. The orange and blue shades blend nicely to represent both the magma-hot and winter-frozen motifs in the game, as well as simply look pretty damn sweet and force us to lust after the game even more.
Thank you, Nintendo.
If you feel the need to import the Japanese version of the game simply for its cover, we'll understand. Stay tuned to IGNcube as we update this story in the future with photos of site Editor-in-Chief Matt Casamassina snuggling on the couch with his copy wrapped tenderly in his arms.
Metroid Prime Japanese box art.
Very nice. Much better than the U.S. cover, as per usual.
Quote:Super! Ghouls 'n Ghosts Online!
Capcom and Game Factory recently announced that they are working on a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game set in the Makaimura universe (that's Ghosts 'n Goblines/Ghouls 'n Ghosts in North America) on multiple platforms. Created using the Terazona and Renderware 3D engine, the game will show up first on the PC in the Spring of 2004 with major console version following soon after.
Ghouls 'n Ghosts Online will star the son of the series' hero, Arthur, and 10 other playable characters. Players can choose from one of them and six classes, like knight, vampire, and archer, and battle against hordes of baddies over the internet.
Check out the concept art below, courtesy of The Magic Box. We'll have more soon, so stay tuned.
Hey it's great that they're making a new G&G game, but why the hell is it coming out for the PC first? G&G is a console franchise, and console owners are the ones that will flock to it. But whatever. It's still good news.
