      GTA: San Andreas announced!
    Posted by: OB1 - 1st March 2004, 1:47 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (15)

    Woohoo!

    From gaming-age:

Quote:This morning, Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar confirmed both the name and the date of next Grand Theft Auto game. "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" is currently in development, and is scheduled for an October 19 release in North America and October 19 reelase in Europe.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be exclusive to the PlayStation 2 for a limited time. The period of exclusivity has not yet been announced.

"In the past couple of years, we have put an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure we do everything possible to exceed people's expectations with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," stated Sam Houser, President of Rockstar Games. "Even though we still have eight months to go, we are starting to become very proud of what we have achieved and we can't wait to get the game into players' hands."

Leslie Benzies, President of Rockstar North, stated, "We are extremely humbled by the success of the Grand Theft Auto series and it has made us push ourselves further than ever to create a title in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that will hopefully redefine the Grand Theft Auto series and revolutionize open-ended gameplay and video game production values."

Yay, GTA in a San Francisco-like city! That's so cool! Now all they have to do is make GTA: Hong Kong and GTA: Tokyo and I... I would be very happy!

      The 76th Annual Oscars
    Posted by: Great Rumbler - 29th February 2004, 7:14 PM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (88)

This is the first time that I've really watched the oscars very much, mainly because I want to see how many times Return of the King wins an Oscar [it's 3 so far]. Anyway, Billy Crystal is a hilarious host and it's really fun to watch all of the things that go one during the Oscars. I especially liked the intro which had Billy Crystal playing different parts in a bunch of movies that came out this year.

There was one part of the intro that was just so hilarious I had to mention it.

The scene: Billy Crystal is in Return of Kings and he's fighting against the giant elephants. Michael Moore pops in.

Michael Moore: Shame on you, Mr. Crystal! This is the wizard's war not your war! It's a war that is not sanctioned by Congress!! *is squashed by a giant elephant*

    That was so funny! :D

      Yamauchi = Rich
    Posted by: Great Rumbler - 29th February 2004, 10:19 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (35)

Quote:The Japanese website GC-Inside points out something that you might find interesting. Forbes new list of billionares for 2004 is out and Yamauchi ranks at 377 with 1.5 billion dollars. He's still swimming in money despite his decline from 162nd place a few years ago. Even though he is no longer at the head of Nintendo, he works as an advisor and has funded some game developers of Nintendo machines with his personal money. If Nintendo ever were in serious financial trouble he'd probably help out.

Woah, I never knew he had THAT much money.

      SW boxsets revealed?
    Posted by: OB1 - 29th February 2004, 10:19 AM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (60)

From a French website, and it looks like it might be legit. Three different themes, and they all look very cool. Here's an awesome translation of the article from Babelfish:

Quote:Perhaps... Perhaps not... Have circulated for several hours on the Web an address which makes some dribble more one: http://www.neuronsyndicate.com/ But what is this thus that this site? Nothing less than that a realizer of packaging DVD. It is responsible, amongst other things, the Alien anthology recently left. And its homepage announces well ahead 3 packaging for the future exit of the OT in DVD! Its three packagings have a name:

    - The Final Conflict:

    - Jedi vs Darkside

    - The Imperial Collection

Quote:As you can notice it, one changes whole with the whole compared to the prelogical DVD, with in particular a resumption of the packaging of the Special Edition of 1997. However, the two others are new, and my rather superb faith! It now will be necessary to wait before a possible confirmation, however. Do not hesitate with you ballader over their site in order to make you a much better idea of its visual. Thank you in Dalsk for the screens.
EDICT (3h15, French hour): It would seem that the site of the realizer does not have any more the images... for a reason still unknown.

Indeed. I like the second set the best.

Release date for RE4, Killer 7
    Posted by: Great Rumbler - 29th February 2004, 10:18 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (90)

Quote:Hopefully you caught some of the information and pictures that came out about Resident Evil 4 and Killer 7 last week, as you'll be excited to know that there are now precise release dates for both titles in the U.S. Capcom will release Killer 7 on September 14th and Resident Evil 4 on November 16th. The titles could give a tremendous boost to GameCube over the 2004 holiday season, particularly for those looking for more grown-up, quality titles. We'll keep on eye on them.

It's going to be a long wait.

Street Racing Syndicate to be released on GC
    Posted by: Great Rumbler - 29th February 2004, 10:16 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (39)

Quote:UPDATE: In a phone conversation with Mika Kelly, a Public Relations Manager with Namco Hometek, it has been confirmed to Nintendophiles that SRS is indeed coming to the Nintendo GameCube.

Nintendophiles can also now confirm the official name for the title. First known as Street Racing Syndicate, it will now be marketed as SRS, a slight but subtle change.

We at Nintendophiles wish to apologize for posting incorrect information, but we simply posted the information that was given to us from Namco’s PR representation. It seems that SRS’ GameCube release caused much confusion for those involved.

Expect more on SRS on Nintendophiles as it reaches closer to release.

    Original Post:
Despite an update of screenshots for the game that you may have seen in the morning on our site, Ahmed Abowath (PR Director) has since informed all of us other staff members of something we didn’t previously know: Namco’s Street Racing Syndicate is no longer coming to GCN.

"SRS will be available for PS2 and Xbox, not the GameCube" says a Namco representative. Well, it doesn’t get much clearer than that. We regret getting everyone’s hopes up that did see the article. Rest assured that this was a new development and we got caught off guard.

Street Racing Syndicate is similar to Need for Speed: Underground with a heavy focus on the culture of illegal racing. Namco purchased the title from 3DO last year. It takes place across three cities including Philadelphia, Miami and Los Angeles. It will be released on PS2 and Xbox in Q3 2004.

We don’t have any reason to pass along about why the game isn’t coming to GameCube (3DO was working on it for GCN) and it’s unfortunate to see since Nintendo and Namco have been closely working together recently.

      EA talks about "Goldeneye 2"
    Posted by: Great Rumbler - 29th February 2004, 10:12 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (24)

Quote:In the midst of touting 007: Everything or Nothing, Electronic Arts made a few mentions about a "top secret" Goldeneye 2 game that is in development. The news came from EA's President, John Riccitiello. "We are developing GoldenEye 2 (working title), a game where players become the ultimate villain in the Bond universe." Goldeneye 2 will be an adventure about the dark side of the 007 underworld. The main character is an agent who was going to join the MI6 but was dismissed for reckless brutality. He has since joined ranks with the super-villain Auric Goldfinger to gain control of the world's greatest criminal organization.

Some have been expecting this new Goldeneye to be the sequel to the fantasticly-popular Goldeneye 007 for Nintendo 64. Of course, it won't be handled by the same people as the original, as Rare now only develops for Xbox. It won't even be handled by Free Radical, the development team that split from some of former Rare employees and is now working with EA. Instead, EA's new Los Angeles studio will develop the title.

There's a lot of remaining questions about whether this truly is a sequel to the N64 hit, but we'll see what it's about at E3. Goldeneye 2 is for multiple consoles (not all?) and will be released during the 2004 Holiday season. They haven't specifically said GameCube will be getting it, but that'd be a travesty for sequel to the N64 game not to.
