      NHL Records Broken Last Night
    Posted by: Fittisize - 6th March 2004, 1:44 PM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (9)

Most Penalty Minutes, one game, both teams-Ottawa and Philadelphia, 419
Most Penalty Minutes, one period, one team-Philadelphia Flyers, 209, third period
Most Penalty Minutes, one game, one team-Philadeplhia Flyers, 213 (Ottawa had a respective 206)

That's carazy! 419 penalty minutes in the City of Brotherly Love...ironic. Ottawa, The City that Closes at 8 PM, couldn't pull off the win though. Too bad. :(

    http://www.nhl.com/onthefly/scoreboard/h...021001.HTM

It took the refs 90 minutes after the game to sort out all the penalties and whatnot. :D There were only three players left on the bench from each team at the end of the game...16 total from each team finished.

      RE 4

The official blow-out will be in a few short days, but here are some terrific-looking scans from Famitsu and other sources (found em at the gaming-age forums), as well as a super-cool gif:

According to several gaming journalists that have played the game it's going to be incredible. Matt from IGN places it just below Metroid Prime 2 as his most-anticipated game of 2004.

I have to admit that while I've never been a real RE fan I am very excited about this game. It looks like it's going to get rid of the main reasons why I don't really like the survival horror genre (crap controls, crap camera, and terrible puzzles).

It's like a television and a videogame console PUT TOGETHER!!
    Posted by: Great Rumbler - 4th March 2004, 3:43 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (1)

Quote:On what was a pleasant March day, Scientific-Atlanta announced that it is planning to develop television set-top boxes with high-performance video game capabilities, and that 250 European engineers are already making games for the Explorer series of boxes. The box will probably not be sold in stores but instead be supplied by cable television companies who would offer subscription services to consumers a la pay-per-view, video-on-demand, and whatever else people use to watch Wrestlemania.

With the video game industry making billions of dollars, more and more companies are going to mosey in, poop on the floor and hope fans will pay money for it. Will the combined might of 250 European engineers be enough to sway the gaming world? Only time will tell, and it will tell us no.

I'm putting my money on "Won't Actually Be Released".

      Soul Calibur: The Movie
    Posted by: EdenMaster - 3rd March 2004, 8:18 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (2)

    Source: GameSpot

Quote:What do American Pie's Stifler and Soul Calibur's Sophitia have in common? Two words: Warren Zide. According to The Hollywood reporter, the Pie and Final Destination producer has purchased the film rights to Namco's fighting game series.

While no date has been set, the project will be Zide's first under his new Sony-based production banner, Anthem Pictures. Matthew Rhodes, Noel Vega, and Jesse Warshal will co-produce.

While no details were given on the Soul Calibur movie's plot, it is likely it will take elements from the original Dreamcast and arcade game as well as Soul Calibur II, its arcade, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube sequel. Both games concern a cast of mighty warriors, lots of brutal hand-to-hand combat, and the all-powerful Soul Edge.

GameSpot will have more details on the Soul Calibur movie as its preproduction nears.

    Hey, this might be good!

Ugh, maybe this isn't such a good idea...Why ruin another awesome fighting franchise with a bad movie?

      LCD screen...
    Posted by: Dark Jaguar - 3rd March 2004, 5:55 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (20)

Well, oddly enough, my littlest brother and sister pair have managed to combine forces to actually break a GBA. Specifically, the one I gave them with the light in it after I got my own SP. After opening it, I saw the screen actually shattered from some really sharp impact from the back. From the looks of it, it was on the floor and one of them stepped on it in some really hard really pointy way. As expected, the light that was put into it was not what did it in. Well, anyway it seems the screen isn't actually soldered into the GBA, but rather plugs in nice and neatly. So, searching around I found some sites USED to sell GBA screens, but no longer.

Oh well, anyway the REST of the system works perfectly fine, including the light (it's surprising how far you can get into a game by sound alone). So, if I can get ahold of another broken system somehow someway, that's broken in some OTHER way, I can just take the working screen out and fix the problem. Honestly I'm just surprised that the GBA finally met it's match not in me, but in... THEM.

      Where's that extra content again?
    Posted by: Dark Jaguar - 3rd March 2004, 4:10 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (55)

As part of TC's new official holiday that ABF started, I ask this of Lucasarts/Bioware. Where's that downloadable content for Knights of the Old Republic? It's been almost a year now, hasn't it?

Now, this game is very fun indeed, but I've been waiting for this extra stuff for some time. Did they just decide not to, rendering an entire option in the game a mere cosmetic anomoly, or is it just taking a LONG time? Basically, they should at least release a patch to fix the billions of glitches in the game. Namely, I'm sick of the freezing followed by teleporting into the future glitch. You know, where you stop, and then suddenly you are a mile away and getting killed by some monstrosity? At most they should add a whole mission or two where you actually get to pilot one of those scissory looking ships for a bit (though that would of course require a whole new engine :D), and maybe a race track where people get to all race at the same time, you know, to really add everything from all the Star Wars movies in there.

Anyway, actually I'm thinking that, if they didn't just cancel making the content completely, they are waiting to around the release of the last movie to release this content, probably with some special nod to that movie added, you know like the hidden ship in Rogue Squadron.
