Man, Excite Truck is all kinds of awesome. It's got some really good graphics, some insane jumps, huge wrecks, high speeds, crashing through trees, everything you want in an arcade racer. I've already gotten through the first two cups on Excite mode and I cannot get enough of this game!!
The only thing I would dock it for is the multiplayer. It's 2 player max with no online mode, that hurts it in my opinion. Other than that, it's sweet-tastic.
I had previous engagements until about 10 pm. Then I came home and putzed around a bit before deciding to check out the midnight launch at Wal-Mart. I get there about 11 and find that every Wii had been spoken for as of 4 that afternoon.
Disappointed, I left and headed home, when suddenly it hit me:
"I REALLY WANT THIS GODDAMN SYSTEM"
So, I headed home and grabbed an extra layer of clothes, a folding chair, a heavy sleeping bag, and my DS, and set out for Circuit City to wait like the dumbasses I always laugh at. I pull up to find a mere 5 people out front of the store. I get my chair lai out, coccoon myself in my sleeping bag and began the waiting game. Fortunately, the people I was with were great company, we had fun (we tried to lob empty cheeseburger wrappers into the lighted sign, toss Coke bottles onto the roof, and went searching for an opossum we'd spotted). So, around rolls 7 am and the CC employees begin to appear to our fanfare.
We wait about ten more minutes and the guy comes out of the store (I swear he had a halo) and begins handing out the vouchers. The store doesn't open until 10, but now that we had our vouchers, we were free to leave.
So here I am, waiting an excrutiating 2 more hours before I can get my Wii.
I'll keep you posted. Right now I need to warm up.
The Wii Reviews forum is now open for business. If you can pull yourself away from that blasted Wii-mote (or if the batteries die and you need to wiat and recharge them), do yourself and all of us a favor and post a review or two about what you've been playing.
Quote:* Donkey Kong (NES)
* Legend of Zelda (NES)
* Mario Bros. (NES) -- that's not "Super"
* Soccer (NES)
* Pinball (NES)
* Wario's Woods (NES)
* Solomon's Key (NES)
* F-Zero (SNES)
* Sim City (SNES)
* Altered Beast (GEN)
* Sonic (GEN)
* Super Mario 64 (64)
I have some version of all of those except Soccer, Pinball, Wario's Woods, and Solomon's Key, and those aren't exactly system sellers... we will be steadily getting more though, so the list should quickly grow. And even though I own them if the prices were a bit lower I'm sure I'd re-purchase some of the games I own already anyway... :)
My shitty Interact memory card, which held pretty much all of my game saves, has snapped in two (completely my fault). On this memory card I had:
Animal Crossing (mortgages paid off in full) Eternal Darkness (beaten on all four runes) FIFA Soccer 2003 (I don't care about this game) Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (completed) Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (EVERY TRACK, CHARACTER, AND RECORD - 40 points on Grande Prix for all modes, plus 160 points on Ultra Grande Prix for all modes) Metroid Prime (completed) Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (about ten hours of gameplay...I was still playing this one) NBA Street (My create-a-player had every single stat maximized and was over 8 feet tall) NHL Hitz 20-02 (Over 500 games played) NHL 2004 (an entire season including playoffs played, plus several franchise modes, one where I won the Stanley Cup 15 out of 20 seasons) Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (ANOTHER game I was close to finishing...I WAS ON THE FINAL BOSS! I WAS GOING TO BEAT HIM TODAY!) Resident Evil 4 (30+ hours of play) Soul Caliber II (barely scratched the surface, so not a big deal) Star Wars: Rogue Leader (the game that made me fall in love with the Gamecube, very sad to lose this one) Super Smash Bros. Melee (this one hurts pretty bad. The records of the never-ending battle between me and a friend of mine [something like 340-320 in his favour] are gone, plus all completed events, plus all characters, almost every single trophy...) Tony Hawk's Pro-Skater 3 (all tracks)
This fucking sucks. I can deal with losing RE4, Star Wars, Metroid Prime, Rogue Agent and Eternal Darkness because I've gone through those games already. I'm certainly not happy about it, but it's not THAT big of a deal. Tony Hawk, Soul Caliber II, and all my sports games I no longer care about, but that is a lot of gameplay that I have no record of anymore. Paper Mario 2 and Metroid Prime 2 hurts REAL bad, especially considering how close I was to finishing both of those games...I wasn't going to buy a Wii until I had beaten them.
