Yup, it's finally done! Coming out in a few weeks. I never gave up hope, and my long faith that they'd finish it sometime finally has come true. :)

      Deus Ex 3!!! But first...

    Deus Ex

The original. As I dig deeper into it, finally sitting down to give it the proper amount of time necessary to figure everything out, the more I like it. The first couple of missions are okay, infiltrating the Statue of Liberty and then a terrorist base in Battery Park, but the game really starts to shine once you're dropped into Hell's Kitchen. That's where the game finally opens up.

That's probably what I like most about this game: the ability to head into an area full of allied troops, enemy terrorists, and lots of NPCs with your next move all up to you. You go straight to the enemy base with guns blazing, you can explore the whole area gathering intel and supplies, or you can sneak around and try to avoid detection entirely. Each side has reward and risk involved. It never feels like the game is pushing you to pick one way or the other.

The downsides, of which there are two main ones, are that the game is a number of years old [and shows it] and in the enemy AI. The graphics are okay as far environments go, certainly nothing that's going to blow you away by today's standards, but they're much more pleasing than the character models, which look quite horrible the closer you get. There's also the issues of animations, which look incredibly stiff and aren't particularly varied. Enemy AI...well, it's there, but it ain't very good. You can blast a guy in the face and his partner, who's about ten feet away, won't even react. You can also stand in full sight of enemy who's about twenty feet away and he won't even see you. Make's the stealthy less troublesome, but also a bit less fun, since the risk of being caught is way lower than it seems it should.

Those two things aside, it's still a really fun, deep game. A 9 for this one.

    Deus Ex: Invisible War

Invisible War is actually pretty good, though certainly not as good as the original.

Some of the RPG elements get toned down, unfortunately, but that aside it still presents a nice RPG experience with a relatively open world and plenty of choices about how to proceed through missions. It seems, however, as though the areas in this game aren't nearly as big as in the first, letting you explore areas that are smaller but with, perhaps, a bit more detail and depth in those areas.

Also, thanks to the high-resolution texture patch, it holds up fairly well in the graphics department.

It's a weak 8, maybe a very strong 7, mostly because it ends up being really short even if you do all of the sidequests and find most of the hidden areas/rooms.

Seth McFarland's The Flintstones (tv series coming)
    Posted by: A Black Falcon - 17th May 2011, 9:12 PM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (45)

Ugh... so is it going to go the way of all his other shows and be a not very good, dirty joke-filled show? If so that'd be really too bad, because The Flintstones is a classic and Family Guy isn't exactly what I'd want to use as a model for a modern Flintstones...

... Yeah, that's a lot of money... they blame poor sales and the continued lack of income from FFXIV (because they still haven't instituted monthly fees, given how many problems it has and the not-so-big userbase). Some games in development have been cancelled apparently, but who knows which.

Rayman Origins (2d Rayman platformer) now retail title, also on Wii
Posted by: A Black Falcon - 13th May 2011, 12:59 AM - Forum: Tendo City - No Replies

    http://www.amazon.com/Rayman-Origins-Nin...295&sr=1-9

Great news, I'd loved the news of a new Rayman platformer, but that it was first announced as a PS360 download title only was sad, given that I don't have those platforms. I'd heard that it was going retail, but until now not that there is also a Wii version coming... awesome news. :)
