      Fable
    Posted by: OB1 - 27th August 2004, 11:42 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (53)

Well guys, Fable is almost here. It's crazy to imagine, but it's finally almost here. And thus the reality starts to set in.

The reviews are in, and Fable seems like a great game. However, it's easy to understand why so many people (myself included, to a lesser extent) are so disappointed and disillusioned by the game. It set out to be the most innovative RPG since the creation of the genre, with insanely ambitious ideas and incredible-sounding concepts. Unfortunately, most of what Fable sound so damn amazing was taken out of the game in the final product. Now I understand why this happens, but what irks me the most is that the developers said basically nothing about almost all of the removed features and I had to find out about them from reviews of the final build this morning. Aside from the stuff that we already know is gone like multiplayer, enormous environments, and being able to have children, a number of things have been taken away that have only just been revealed, and only by the reviewers. You are no longer competing against other adventurers, one of the coolest features of Project Ego. That's gone. Kids won't copy your hairstyle, something I was looking forward to. I don't think if that extends to copying clothing style (I really wanted my awesomely bad fashion to become the rage in Albion), but I assume it does. You can no longer take clothes from people you've just killed or knocked out. I have no idea why, even Morrowind let you do that. The gorgeous (but much smaller than the first screens showed) environments seem to be completely blocked off for the entire game, meaning you cannot frolic through the woods or meadows. That to me is the most disappointing.

It still looks like a great RPG and if I knew exactly what to expect and didn't have such insanely high expectations for it, Fable would still be on my most-wanted list. I know I'll be able to appreciate it for what it is eventually much like I did with Shenmue and KOTOR, but right now I can't help but me disappointed on so many levels. I'm mostly just mad at BBB for keeping so much of this from us. I'm still getting it September 14th, just not with as much enthusiasm as I did a few months ago.

    Discuss.

Do YOU have a small penis like these people?

    Quote:PSM August talks PSP's price

It's not official but basicly they say that Sony has told them the price would be $150, and say that this price will be official announced (therefore confirmed) by Sony at TGS in September.

Predictions for Nintendo's next innovative, secret peripherals
    Posted by: OB1 - 26th August 2004, 12:30 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (73)

After reading about their awesome new mic that they've kept secret for over a year now, I started to think about what they could be hiding right now. The below ideas are insane in their innovativeocity and are probably so crazy that they'll never happen, but that still won't stop me from trying to figure out what else Nintendo has up their sleeves!

Top secret, innovative GC peripheral #2: A "light-gun". Just imagine playing a game where you have to shoot at the tv screen using a gun-like controller, making it feel like you're a real gunman from the wild west or a futuristic bounty hunter from space! The possibilities are endless.

Top secret, innovative GC peripheral #3: A memory card that has a little screen on it, enabling you to play mini-games on it and manage your file saves on the device itself! Genius!

Top secret, innovative GC peripheral #3: A camera that would let you the player become part of the action on the tv screen! How cool would it be if someone were to release a device like that??!

Let's hear what you guys have in mind, too!

      Super-innovative GC peripheral revealed!!!
    Posted by: OB1 - 26th August 2004, 9:36 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (6)

Aaaand the innovative Gamecube peripheral that will add longevity to the system's lifespan is.....

    *drum roll please*

    A MIC!!!!!

    ......

    *awkward, confused golf clap*

....what? It's super innovative!!! Come on guys, it's not like Sony and Microsoft released mics last year or anything like that... or Sega will the Dreamcast in 2000.... and Nintendo themselves with Hey You Pikachu...

    *cough*

Just read the stupid news article:

    Quote:New Nintendo Peripherals Revealed
Posted by Josh Freund at 11:03:15 AM EST on 8.26.2004.
Nintendo recently updated the Mario Party 6 Game Info in the press portion of its site. In this update, Nintendo revealed a new peripheral for the GameCube, called the GameCube Mic. Some excerpts from the game info:

"Mario Party animals rejoice - Mario Party 6 takes the crowd-pleasing series to the next level with more than 75 all-new mini-games, six fresh game boards and a Nintendo GameCube Mic."

"Included Nintendo GameCube Mic gives gamers the power to play mini-games by issuing voice commands, and lightning-fast movement around the board gives Mario Party 6 a much faster feel than previous games in the series."

Mario Party 6 will be shown at Game Stars Live. Hopefully, the GameCube Mic will be officially revealed there.

Also, on Nintendo's recently released holiday schedule are two games of interest.

    1) Get On Da Mic is scheduled for a November release and is being published by XS Games. This had previously been announced for Playstation 2 and Box only. It's a game in which the player has to rap to songs using a microphone and will therefore probably be the first GameCube title to use the GameCube mic. Since it's coming out in November, that means the GameCube Mic will presumably be released sometime in November (or earlier).

    2) Get On Da Floor is scheduled for a November release and is being published by XS Games. This had previously been announced for Playstation 2 and Xbox only. It's a game in which the player has to dance to songs, using, presumably a dance pad. Could that be another new GameCube peripheral? We'll see...

We'll have more on these interesting developments as it comes...

Ooooh, and there might be a DANCE PAD too!! What an incredible NEW idea!!!

The Return of the Story Thread
    Posted by: EdenMaster - 25th August 2004, 7:48 PM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (29)

So do we all remember this, yet another method of legitimately upping our post counts? All we have to do is create a story that ill almost definitely end up being ridiculous, pointless, painful, and/or disgusting. Everyone who posts must add only a sentence, then let someone else take over before adding more. In this way, we can all add our own twisted bit of genius to the story. Okay, let's begin.

Great Rumbler is walking down the street and finds a GameCube on the ground.

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror looks friggin' amazing
    Posted by: OB1 - 25th August 2004, 11:30 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (68)

I haven't really payed much attention to it since it was announced, but after watching the three videos IGN has up, this is my most-anticipated handheld title until Minish Cap comes out (not surprisingly, Amazing Mirror is being developed by Flagship, the guys responsible for the Oracle games and Minish Cap). It looks so damn fun, and the art is gorgeous. Really makes me want to do better on my game. :D

      Goldeneye DS = Goldeneye N64
    Posted by: OB1 - 25th August 2004, 9:55 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (22)

According to GCAdvanced and several gaming mag/site editors at the Gaming-Age forums:

    Quote:August 24, 2004

    by: Seth Walker

What does Rare, Nintendo, EA, and James Bond have in common?

Not too long ago, it was revealed that EA was working on a Goldeneye title for the Nintendo DS. Since then, nothing has been revealed about the title.

Everyone's dreams has finally come true. GCA has confirmed once-fabled rumors with our close contacts at Electronic Arts:

Goldeneye for the Nintendo DS is being developed and published by Electronic Arts with it being exclusive to Nintendo.

Goldeneye DS is based on the classic multi-million N64 hit.

It will allow multiplayer between 8-16 players at a time, possibly even allowing for wi-fi internet play.

It is unknown if the game is being built from scratch or based on the original engine.

More to report in the next upcoming weeks.

Awesome. I'm worried how it'll play on the DS, but it's still really great news. I just hope it's not a straight port since I played the original more than any other game during my four years in Croatia (and it didn't even come out until more than two years into living there). But if it has wi-fi online support, I don't care if it's the same exact game.
