So who's getting a PSP this month?
    Posted by: OB1 - 9th March 2005, 4:19 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (86)

I'm guessing the answer to that is "nobody here", but it never hurts to check.

I dunno, I might. I'd want to get some sort of warantee for the system (since, you know, Sony hardware is usually about as durable as fine china) and at least one game (probably Lumines... or MG Acid... or Wipeout... dammit, too many to choose from!), so I'd probably end up paying a total of around $325 after tax... I don't think I'll be afford that this month. Maybe I'll wait to hear if the square button thing has been fixed yet. I can probably hold off for a few months. It'll be tough, though...

WTF, how much more can they ruin Sonic?
    Posted by: OB1 - 8th March 2005, 11:12 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (129)

    Good grief.

Quote:The first inductee into the walk of game was Sega's classic mascot hero Sonic the Hedgehog. A seven-foot tall version of Sonic the Hedgehog took the stage to accept the award and then Sega rolled a video compilation of its Sonic series.

Sega's Isuka-san then took the stage and revealed that a new Sonic game was in development. He said about the new title: "I want to thank you all very much for this honor. I'm happy about Sonic's success, but I'm even more excited about the future."

Sega premiered the first footage of its new platformer Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Shadow of the Hedgehog. The title, which boasts impressive new graphics and more rollercoaster gameplay, is set for release for unspecified consoles during the holiday season of 2005.

Shadow of the Hedgehog follows character Shadow on a new adventure. Armed with a gun and the ability to speed and soar, the mascot can quickly zoom through levels, or stop in mid-air and shoot down opponents.

Movie up at ign, gamespot, etc.

What the hell is Sega thinking? Sonic has always been a kid-friendly series, and now they're putting guns into the main character's hands. And not cartoony laser guns or whatever, but realistic-sounding pistols and automatic weapons. I don't care if it's Shadow, it's the same damn thing. Putting realistic guns into a Sonic game is like putting hardcore porn into a Zelda game (don't smile, guys).

    *sigh*

Nice one, Sega. Keep on digging that grave for yourselves.

      Xenon possible specs

That is, the X-Box 2. Info supposedly based on alpha/dev hardware.

    http://xbox.gamespy.com/xbox/microsoft-x...331p1.html

Three 4ghz powerpc cpus, ati video card (next generation above the X800), 256mb ram, standard dvd media, no dedicated sound card, hard drive optional (size undetermined), camera included. Oh, and there are memory cards too of course.

Also, it says that MS says all games must be Live-enabled, developed for high definition, and can use custom soundtracks...

Hmm... X-Box backwards compatibility isn't looking good...

The price of gas in America

Okay, so everyone post their local gas prices in an effort to either (1) make us really jealous or (2) make us feel pity for you.

    Around here it's about $1.94-$1.97

    It doth suck mightily.

      Who's Next?
Posted by: Great Rumbler - 5th March 2005, 8:22 PM - Forum: Den of the Philociraptor - Replies (9)

Throughout the history of videogaming there've been clear leaders in almost ever generation. In the early years it was Atari, then Nintendo, and now Sony holds the number one spot. Can Sony maintain their lead for a third generation and if they can't who'll take their position from them? Bust out your crystal balls and start brewing some tea, becuase we're gonna start making predictions!

P.S. Your prediction doesn't necessarily have to be for the upcoming generation. You can make predictions farther ahead than that if it pleases you.

Okay, I finally watched this movie [which is Korean, for those who don't know] and all I can say it...wow, this is unlike any movie that has ever been made before. I really don't know where I can possibly start talking about this movie. Giving a synopsis doesn't even begin to accurately describe this movie at all.

This is not an overly violent movie per se, but the way in which the violence is shown it's more difficult to watch than all those gore-fest movies, it's a kind of violence that makes you feel as if your watching it happen in real life. And it has some of the longest continuous shots that I've ever seen. There's one scene where the main character fights a bunch of guys in a hall way that takes at least 3 or 4 minutes. All one shot. Insane, to say the least.

And the story, wow, the story, it's all kinds of unpredictible. Nothing that I thought would happen, ever happened. And every I thought couldn't happen, did. It's a brutal story, made even more brutal by the characters that populate it. It has a bad guy that through the whole movie is nothing but pure evil, who kills without remorse and who is constantly houding the main character and making his life a living hell, who manipulates without a second thought, and yet...at the end you are forced to sympathise with this man that you have hated for the entire movie. The driving force behind the events that occur and the twist at the end, are just...I don't know how to accurately portray what will likely be going through you mind, but it's crazy, it's bizarre, and it's twisted beyond belief.

This movie...well I don't know what else I can say, except watch this movie if you get the chance. It's worth it if you can stay till the end.
