The mystery "million seller" GBA game revealed... for real this time?
    Posted by: OB1 - 8th September 2003, 9:06 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (21)

Aw crap. It sure as hell better not be this:

Quote:Japanese rag Dengeki GC promised a few months ago that a mystery Game Boy Advance title would sell "a million for sure; maybe even two" in Japan before the year's close.

With the recent announcement of Square Enix's Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest: Shougeki no Shippodan, many people thought the mystery game had been revealed. Perhaps not.

According to that clever fox over at Video-fenky, another Japanese magazine, Shougaku Gonensei, has listed Pokémon Red + Green as "Coming Soon." Shougaku Gonensei is a magazine aimed at grade-school children. Presumably, the game will contain both of the original Pokémon games (which were released here as Red and Blue versions) on one cartridge for the Game Boy Advance. With updated graphics and new features, including, perhaps, the ability to get even closer to the 386 monster total in Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, Pokémon Red + Green has the potential to be a massive hit - a massive two million-selling hit.

Fennek says that new information should be revealed in next month's Shougaku Gonensei, if it turns out to be true. Currently, Pokémon Red + Green has not been confirmed by Nintendo.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/07/magazi...ed=1&8hpib

Now I know none of you will read it, given that it both requires you to get a (free, but that's not good enough for you) subscription to the NY Times website and then read this quite lengthy article (and within the next few weeks, because after a while NYT articles go off the free site)... but still, I wish someone would. Because its quite good... covers in depth just about all the topics that are relevant to the subject. I don't completely agree, but its still a interesting read...

I can't believe it took this long for this thread to appear, but better late than never of course...

Been liking week 1 so far... Steelers kicked ass of course, everyone else in A-North lost, that's as good a start as any.

Valve: Half Life 2 will be released on Xbox, PS3, and Gamecube 2
    Posted by: Great Rumbler - 5th September 2003, 5:45 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (20)

Quote:While Nintendo and Sony have yet to release information about their next consoles Valve have confirmed they are working on Half-Life 2 for them.

The game is set to launch on the PC later this year and the Xbox soon after. Valve have now stated that they plan to launch Half-Life 2 on the PS3 and 'GameCube 2'.

Valve have also announced that they will release a number of special edition packs for the game. There will be a standard single-player version, a version with mutli-player options and a collector's edition with t-shirts, pens and other Half-Life 2 items.

    That's pretty good news.

I wonder which version will be better...

    From ign:

So when it Nintendo going to release some screenshots from the latest built of the game? I'm sick of these crappy placeholder texture screenshots that they've released. I don't understand Nintendo's logic behind only releasing screenshots from an early build of a game that's supposed to come out in just a few months. Wouldn't it make sense to release the good screenshots? I think that's how some companies raise interest in a game. Dunno

Aaaand another crappy publisher runs away from the Gamecube like an ashamed lover
    Posted by: OB1 - 5th September 2003, 10:53 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (19)

    ... or something....

    From ign:

Quote:September 05, 2003 - It looks as though another publisher is set to end support for Nintendo's GameCube console. Publisher Eidos Interactive yesterday revealed that due to a decrease in profitability it would not continue to develop for Nintendo's system.
The company's chief executive Mike McGarvey said that versions of big games would continue to be released for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC.

"The GameCube is a declining business," said McGarvey, who added that traditionally Eidos has not invested heavily in Nintendo systems. "If other companies follow us, [Nintendo] will have a hard battle to fight."

Eidos recently released a port of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin for GameCube.

Thankfully Eidos will not be publishing the next Time Splitters game, so it's all good. They were never planning to release any big titles to begin with, so ah well.

      For the Trek nerds here...
    Posted by: OB1 - 3rd September 2003, 1:39 PM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (54)

Any of you planning on watching the new season of 'Enterprise'? The first season was a big letdown but there were a handful of good episodes last season and I am intrigued by the new (albeit unoriginal) direction for season 3. I admit that I'm a big Trek geek so I'll probably watch most of the season unless it gets really bad, but I do hope that it gets better. There's so much potential...
