Quote:Nintendo plans to ring in the new year with three of the video game industry's most popular franchises: Pokémon, Metroid and Final Fantasy. Nintendo GameCube™ and Game Boy® Advance enthusiasts are sure to start off 2004 with a bang.
Final Fantasy®: Crystal Chronicles™ launches exclusively for the Nintendo GameCube on February 9. This is the first multiplayer Final Fantasy game available on home consoles in the United States. Through cooperation and teamwork, four players can join with teammates to perform more powerful attacks. And for the first time, players can use a Game Boy Advance to control characters, manage data and view character information. To make this Game Boy Advance connectivity feature more accessible, Nintendo is offering a link cable with pre-sell orders through participating retailers.
Also debuting on February 9, Metroid®: Zero Mission for Game Boy Advance starts right where the original Metroid for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) left off. Based loosely on the original NES maps, Metroid: Zero Mission includes all of the weapons and environments that made the original a huge hit, and also provides a totally new experience for the series' many fans by adding new enhancements and delving deeper into aspects of the story that haven't been told.
On March 22, the next chapter of the Pokémon craze will offer 20 hours of 3-D role-playing game fun for the Nintendo GameCube when Pokémon Colosseum™ hits stores. Players can upload all 200 Pokémon® from their Game Boy Advance Pokémon® Ruby and Pokémon® Sapphire games to battle against their friends on the Nintendo GameCube. Pokémon Colosseum features Jirachi, a hidden character and star of the upcoming Pokémon movie. Jirachi wakes once every 1,000 years for seven days, during which it has the power to grant wishes. To date, the Pokémon franchise has sold more than 38 million video games in the United States and more than 110 million worldwide. Stay tuned for some exciting details on an upcoming pre-sell program.
Very interesting... especially the Metroid part. So its a sequel set immediately after... huh.
Oh, and they completely fail to clear up the Stadium confusion. Which leads me to believe that that RPG part isn't as big as implied in some places...
Anyone notice that, as of late, Nintendo's commercials have been comedy GOLD? They HAVE! Also, Sony's commercials haven't been all that good...
In any case, that Fire Emblem commercial about Blazing Swords is funny. Also, seen that Mario & Luigi commercial? That one's funny.... too. And another thing, they had some other ones that are also on now, and they are funny.
Prof. Persona: While that persona is an idiot, it's right!
This is the place where I will move all lengthly debates between anyone at Tendo City (mainly mine and ABF's) that ruin threads.
Is your computer slow? :D
As for slowdown/speedup... yes, often roms don't feel 'right' speed-wise, and often I can't do anything about it. Generally its 'this seems too fast' for me... but too slow? Sometimes. Mostly for systems that aren't fully emulated though... like MAME's (non) emulation of 3d games, or PSX games (slow a lot!), or many N64 games...
And how well did Advance Wars sell? I'd like to know... its definitely the kind of game I'd really only expect on PCs... sure, consoles always have gotten a few strategy games, but not many...
As for how well PC strategy games sell... well, as you know, its got the whole range from some niche titles that sell just thousands to Warcraft which sells millions...
As for FFTA, well... that 'tactical strategy' genre in that form only exists on consoles, you know. Oh, the PC has lots of strategy games... hmm. X-Com? Some elements. Baldur's Gate? Some parts. But only consoles have the specific combonation that shows up in 'Tactics' games for some reason. It seems to be a subgenre only Japanese developers make in that form...
Quote:Since the GameCube's European price drop occurred three weeks ago, European retailers have reported astounding GameCube sales numbers. Ten times the numbers of GameCubes were sold during the first week of the price drop, and sales have only increased since then. Since the price drop Nintendo's overall market share on the continent has increased from 5% to 25% putting them ahead of Microsoft's Xbox.
"Nintendo GameCube is now selling at the fastest rate since its launch proving that at the right price and with the great software line up available this Christmas, it really is the console of choice for all gamers," said Nintendo of Europe Marketing Director David Gosen.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, F-Zero GX, Mario Party 5, and 1080: Avalanche are just some of the games being released for the GameCube in Europe that may be helping those numbers. In addition a special Mario Kart: Double Dash!! package will be released on November 14th which will contain a new GameCube along with Mario Kart and the special Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition. The collector's edition will contain five Zelda games, and is a much anticipated collection from Nintendo. It's definitely good to see that sales are brisk for Nintendo in Europe as well as the United States and Japan.
So I plan on picking up on X-Box on Friday but I can't decide which bundle I should get.
Adrenalin Pack - Comes with Halo and Amped $279CDN
Quest Pack - Comes with KOTOR, Mech Assult and 2 months of Free X-Box live $257CDN
Holiday Bundle -Comes with Star Wars Clone Wars, Tetris and 2 months of X-Box live $249CDN
Right now I'm leaning towards the Quest pack because I want KOTOR, I already have Halo for PC plus the pack that comes with it is so much more expensive so don't think I'll be getting that one, but the Holiday Bundle is cheaper and if Wal-Mart figueres out they're under-charging for the Quest Pack and changes it to how much it should be then the Holiday bundle may be more worth it.
Any thoughts?, I'm not really familiar with Clone Wars, Tetris, Mech Assult or Amped
