Quote:April 14, 2004 - In a conversation with IGNcube today, Factor 5 president Julian Eggebrecht said the company would not develop any more titles for Nintendo's GameCube console. The studio is currently creating software for other platforms.
Eggebrecht would not say what titles were in development at Factor 5 nor would he talk specifically about what platform they might appear on. However, at the Game Developers Conference 2004 Eggebrecht was spotlighted as one of the studio heads very keen on Sony PSP development.
The Factor 5 president told IGNcube that no software from the San Rafael-based software house would be previewed at the forthcoming Electronics Entertainment Expo 2004, which kicks off this May in Los Angeles.
Does this also mean that they're no longer working on Pilotwings for the N5? Damnit.
Wow, what a terrific day. We get the first MP 2 shots, and now our first glimpse at Wind Waker 2 and Too Human! At least we know that TH will make it to the cube and be shown at E3, eh?
WW2 is of course using the same engine, but even though the screen is small and blurry the textures look noticably better. And damn, look at that MP2 screen. Simply gorgeous.
Could the rumors be true that in this game they'll introduce a "Evil Samus" that will hunt you like in Metroid Fusion? Notice the black and white Samus in the shots. Hmm... She's also fighting a chozo! But the best part is; MULTIPLAYER!!!!!
My idea is that the Black and White Samus is Metroid Prime reincarnated, like at the end of Metroid Prime when you collect 100% it shows the Metroid taking your Phazon suit and then a hand comes out of the goo. I dont know why Samus is fighting the Chozo in that shot but maybe the phazon was the catalyst that created the X-Virus; a mutated virus that mimiced its prey in order to aid its spread. Maybe the Chozo is a reanimated phazon induced lifeform created similar in fashion to the X-Ridley! Maybe the X-Virus was simply air born sentient phazon! gah!
Also, looking at the multiplayer picture, it would seem that in one screen (top left) the Samus in a ball can see a Samus standing. On the screens top right and bottom right, you can clearly see that Samus is looking at a black and white Samus. But in the top left screen, you can only see the redish Samus. Could that mean that the Black and White Samus can become invisible until you're right next to it? Also, it would seem that the Bottom left picture in this multiplayer game is a floating camera that will follow different players around depending on their score most likely. So that screen shot is showing 3 people playing. And if you didn't notice it, there's a Chozo Artifact floating above the reddish Samus's head. They're probably playing 'Hold the flag' or 'capture the flag' which would mean having teams! If that's possible, maybe the multiplayer mode will allow you to have SIMS! I'm totally making theories but man i like it.
Well, most likely anyway. They dropped the price (if you are willing to sign some contract with them for phone service), and fixed most of the design flaws (taking out a few of those features it advertised so much to start with).
However, the biggest flaw doesn't seem to have been addressed at all. There's still not a single good exclusive game for the thing, or even an exclusive game period as far as I know. Unless they can fix THAT problem, there's still no reason whatsoever I would ever want this thing.

April 13, 2004 - IGNcube today learned that Canada-based development studio Silicon Knights has ended its second-party status with Nintendo Co. Ltd. The company will effective immediately be allowed to develop software for multiple consoles including Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's PlayStation platforms.
Though no official reason was given for the decision, IGNcube speculates that the philosophies of the two companies did not mesh. Silicon Knights has always been a very content-driven studio with strong beliefs in the elements of game creation including content, artistry, sound, and technology. Nintendo has recently downplayed the role of technology in game creation and has been known to de-emphasize compelling story, graphics and sound in favor of classic play mechanics.
"Silicon Knights and Nintendo have agreed to mutually part ways," Silicon Knights' President Denis Dyack told IGNcube.
"Nintendo and Silicon Knights have reached an agreement allowing Silicon Knights to pursue its vision of videogame entertainment with other companies," said a Nintendo of America spokesperson. "Nintendo respects the creative work of Silicon Knights and the parties have left the door open to work on future projects that meet the creative vision of both companies."
Asked if today's news meant Silicon Knights would not continue to develop for Nintendo platforms, Denis Dyack said: "No it doesn't. It's possible that we may do another game with Nintendo, actually. It just means that we've decided to break our exclusivity with Nintendo."
Dyack confirmed that Silicon Knights is now fully able to develop for competing consoles as well.
An official announcement from Nintendo is expected in the coming weeks.
Talk about a complete surprise and major dissapointment! Denis Dyack always talks about how much he loves working for Nintendo and how much better SK has been under their guidance and how he wants to work with Miyamoto for a very long time. What could have caused this? The poor sales of both of their GC titles and Nintendo's complete lack of marketing push for Twin Snakes? That has to be it. Their games sell like crap on Nintendo consoles, simple as that.
Fuck, this is terrible news.
First Rare, then Leftfield, now Silicon Knights. Who's next?
... is CRAZY fun on the Gamecube! I've never had so much concentrated fun with a multiplayer game in many many years. I especially love the doctor multiplayer mode where each player has to do something silly while he's playing a mini-game and the other players have to say just how well he performed his task. I've also never laughed so hard at a game before.
If Nintendo makes an online version of Wario Ware I will never leave my room.
GORON CITY, HYRULE--In recent news from the Goron war front, the mighty Goron war machine has been almost entirely handicapped in its grand, glorious campaigns due to a crippling war against a computer virus. The Goron Imperial Army has been rendered virtually immobile for several weeks now, the Goron ambassador to Tendo City reports. "His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Darunia S. Goron XIV, wishes his loyal comrades at Tendo City to know that the war carries on, albeit not well," the ambassador told this correspondent at an interview in his Tendo City embassy. Putting down a warm plate of molten rocks, he continued, "but his majesty is growing concerned. The virus assumes the identity of a "kernel32.dll" file, and even now it grows in power. The Goron Army is hapless against a foe which will not fight in a conventional manner. This virus," the ambassador said even as he began to choke on tears, "it does not fight conventionally---it cannot be reasoned with. First, it just prevented us from using the Start Up menu in Windows... then it gave us all these bogus error messages. Then, the internet---we can get online, but neither AIM nor Internet Explorer function. Some programs, like Winamp, work normally; others, like Paint and JPeg-viewing programs freeze when used. It...it's just not human." The ambassador broke down at this point and the interview was terminated. On the war front, the Goron casualties continued to mount on Tuesday; numbering well into the tens of thousands. The Goron II Imperial Army was swiftly defeated by the Virus forces yesterday, and the war effort grows dim. If things continue as such, the hard drive will either need to be formatted, or worse, a new computer will need to be purchased. His Imperial Majesty sends his heavy-hearted greetings to the Tendo City establishment, and wishes them all well. -------BARRY
My God, it's all I see on CNN, Fox News and just about every other American news station/program that I can think of. Here's the typical news report that I'm normally seeing nowadays:
"Gas prices in America have reached a record high." que-signs of gas prices which I can't even understand (a *gallon*? What in the hell is that?) then, talking to some idiot with his gigantic SUV in the background: "this is getting out of hand. I'm spending $60, $70 a week on gas!"
Why must you complain about gas prices when there is nothing to complain about? The average gas price in USA is $1.79/ gallon. That's roughly 66 cents per litre in Canadian funds, a price that we would be more than happy to have. Some would kill to pay that little for gas. But I guess Americans envy all the other countries in the world with lower gas prices: ( marked with *)
Here's an example of idiots going to the extreme to fight back at these astronomical gas prices:
