Poor Darunia... missing on most of the hard games...

Indeed.
I don't know what N_A's problem is. He seems to be hating all of the good games recently. Perhaps he's just cranky?

I don't know if that's it, since he's always been annoyed... but something must be going on. I mean, disliking Zelda AND Metroid gameplay? Huh?
14th April 2003, 4:14 PM
Actually he's hated just about every Nintendo game since Majora's Mask. He also doesn't like the excellent GBA Castlevania games.
14th April 2003, 4:21 PM
Well then, he has a problem...
14th April 2003, 7:18 PM
I loved Majora; one of my top 5 favorite console titles of all time. And to recap, I wasn't completely out of the market; I grew up with an NES and an Atari 2600; we had a Genesis instead of an SNES, and then the dawn or the light age came when I got the N64. Until then, I really didn't play videogames that often...no Metroid or Zelda until their modern titles arrived.

You both love the supremely annoying MM, and dislike the awesome MP and TWW... what is wrong with you people... :)
14th April 2003, 9:47 PM
MM is a great game, but MP and WW are better.
14th April 2003, 10:12 PM
I very much doubt you want to hear how I found MM so incredibly frusterating again... but that game was so great at times and the world was so cool... it was tragic that it was crippled with that abysmal 3-day system and awful save system... made what was potentially one of the best games ever one of the most frusterating and least fun Nintendo games ever...
14th April 2003, 10:21 PM
You could slow down time so it wasn't that bad, but the save system was a bit annoying. I liked the whole 3-day system since it gave way to so many great gameplay elements. It was like the movie Groundhog Day.
14th April 2003, 10:37 PM
Well I think I've explained 20 times now how I found the time thing incredibly annoying and frusterating and limiting (yes, including the thing that slows down time... I don't know why you always have to mention that like "wow! this changes everything!"... it doesn't...)... I HATE it when time limits are done like that! Forcing you to go through so much of the game as fast as you can just so you don't have to replay hours of work is NOT my idea of fun. Not in the least.

Oh, you're definately right. That was annoying...theres no doubt about that, but you have to get beyond that. It was so much fun, and the dungeons were awesome beyond compare. WW's dungeons were, as I've said time and time again, very lacking...and they recycled the same 10 bad guys in every dungeon!!
15th April 2003, 8:16 AM
i never really found MM to be that annoying at all, as a slowed down 3 days was all it ever took to beat a dungeon (in many cases, though not all). and i think the game would have been ruined without the time limit because it added so much drama to the lives of the people in termina. that game was really all about the side quests. in fact, i think i liked Majora's Mask well more than i do WW as WW just seems somewhat hollow compared to the N64 games. while the gameplay is refined, i don't feel that theitems system is as deep as in OoT (there were lots of items and upgrades) and the character interaction can't even touch majoras mask....they're not even in the same fucking sport (to quote pulp fiction).
but i know a lot of people who hated majora's mask, so, to each their own.

Thank you, Big Guy! I didn't hate WW, and I still don't...under REmake, it's my favorite GC game...I merely stated that I was disappointed in it (as almost everyone here has), and found OB1 biting my ankles over it. MM's 3-day system was annoying, but indeed, slowing it down gave one plenty of time...and it did add drama and emotion, just like one is driven in OoT to liberate the Gorons.

I lost count in that first jungle area how many times i wished for no time limit and a decent save system... and it just got worse from there... so bad that the game really isn't playable without having to force yourself through the extreme annoyance that the game causes... which is too bad given how interesting the world is. I wish I'd been able to tolerate the game to the end, but there is no way in the world I could have done that...
15th April 2003, 6:56 PM
That sucks, I'm sorry to hear that. My story is that I got all the way to the end, and loved the whole game, only to be stuck on and frustrated with the final boss; so I havent played it in...what, over a year now.
15th April 2003, 7:19 PM
REmake is your favorite Gamecube game?
Why do I even bother arguing with you people...
I know it's subjective and everything but gah... I miss the good old days when gamers liked good games.

Well it started bad and got worse... there were a lot of parts of the game that were a lot of fun, really... the quest was good, the world great (much more stuff in it than OoT, though smaller...)... some interesting dungeons... the sidequest focus was different, but not bad...
But then there is the time limit and the save system. And boom, a potentially great game is one of the most frusterating games in recent memory.

Just about everything in the game revolved around the three-day system so you'd have an entirely different Zelda game if you took that away. OoT 2, to be precise. The groundhog day set-up was very original and worked very well. Too bad some people couldn't adjust to it.
15th April 2003, 9:30 PM
It was original, and powered the sidequests, but ruined the fun factor of the game...
15th April 2003, 11:02 PM
I'm sorry you felt that way.

I still have yet to play Majora's Mask, but it sounds kinda like fun.

Oh it was fun, I very highly recommend it...don't let the bashing of the three-day system hinder you. I loved it; wouldn't mind playing it again and this time beating the end boss too. The dungeons and the bosses were oh-so-cool...almost as good as OoT.
16th April 2003, 8:25 AM
Fun? Not that much... not as fun as any other Zelda game, that's for sure...
Oh, and I know lots of people hated the save system/3 day system in that game...

Fun. YES I SAID FUN, I loved MM. For everyone you know who hated the 3 day system I know people who hate the entire theme of WW.
