Wow, I really hope this comes true!

From Games Are Fun:

Quote:The PI's over at Game Informer claim that Nintendo's planning on a Zelda compilation disc that will be available via a new GameCube bundle for this upcoming holiday. It includes several console releases (no Seasons and Ages, sadly); that's The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and a Zelda documentary. They don't know whether or not the games will be redone slightly (like Master Quest) or just straight-up ports.

I miss Navi.

Hot damn, just what we always wanted! Hopefully they'll be more than just straight ports, but I'm not holding my breath...
Hmm... no LA, no LttP, no OoA, no OoS... :(
Maybe that's a good thing since remaking the first two Zeldas would be easier than remaking all of the 2D ones, so we might have a better chance of getting remakes instead of straight ports. Also, the first two Zeldas are the worst-looking of the bunch and the most in need of being remade.
True... but still, its dissapointing.
If they were just going to be straight ports then I could care less. That's what the GC Player is for, silly! :p
True... but LttP for GBA isn't quite the same as the SNES one, in screen size at least...
Could care less? That means you don't care the minimal amount, so how is that an insult? That's like saying "you aren't as ugly as some people!" to someone! Not exactly very insulting, only slightly so.

They could just only remake Zelda 1 and 2 anyway even if they did include the rest of the 2D games. Why would they be forced to up the graphics of the rest? LTTP doesn't really even need that big an update by that weird Japanese "if it's 16 bit or higher, it's fine" standard. Not only that, Zelda 1's graphics have already been remade in Japan. They just need to take the graphics of that remake (which I hear sucks because they did massive alterations to the game, shrinking down the map by about half) and apply it to the original. I imagine at least OOT would look like the OOT remake in that bonus disk, since well it would be a lot easier to just reuse the port they already made of the game then to report it with less graphical enhancements.

So then, I sure hope Game Informer (which is notoriously WRONG) is correct.
Bleedin' christ that'd be awesome...and an original gimmick, too. Man, Majora on the GC...mmm-MMM!
Original gimick? You mean compiling games in one collection? That's just so wrong on so many levels... *Points out King's Quest collection, various Final Fantasy collections, Super Mario All-Stars collection, and Sonic collection games*
Rolleyes Yeah, yeah, I know I always get "couldn't care less" wrong. It's kinda like you with spelling the word "sequel" as "sequal" and other strange spelling errors.
But the way you use them in slang 'I could care less' and 'I couldn't care less' mean exactly the same thing... :)
That's a good point.
Slang? They are expressions, not slang. Slang is a made up word like "shizzle". Your point is kinda the same though, except the "could care less" form came after the "couldn't care less" form as a bastardized version of it, thus inferior and deserving of being scourged from the English language.
Yeah ok, Dr. Grammarian. Rolleyes

Slang isn't just words like "fo' shizzle" or "bizzom". Lots of sentences become "slanged" (or whatever) because they just sound better, or more natural.
Oh, I want! I own both of the NES Zeldas, but my AoL doesn't work and my Zelda 1 cart has a bad battery that dies everytime I get about half way through the game. So this would rock. I wouldn't really care about MM, LttP, or the GB games, since I already own them, but I can certainly understand if some one else does.
I have an NES emulation disc with a few hundred NES games (including both Zelda's) for the Dreamcast if you'd like a copy.
That would be cool if it comes true!

I'd buy that for a dollar!
The DC disc or the Gamecube one? I could give it to you for free...
Hey LL, since you own both games, you are legally entitled to play the ROMs of them if you so wish (not that it would be the same but...) so long as you aren't playing BOTH copies at once anyway, which I highly doubt is a possibility for you anyway. Of course, unless you have a decent gamepad for your PC, it's just not nearly as fun using a keyboard. You just gots ta play the Zelda 1 & 2! Zelda 1 is surprisingly easy once you get used to how the enemies move and learn every single possible action the game can come up with, but Zelda 2 to this day I haven't beaten with 0 game overs... (Doesn't help that Zelda 2, much like LTTP SNES version, counts just saving the game as a game over...)
The emulation disc I'm talking about is for the Dreamcast. You can play all of the NES games with a DC pad, which is perfectly good.
And risk throwing the laser off alignment for trying to read a CD instead of a Dreamcast disk? No, it's better to just use the emulator, and he can get it quicker too. Stop trying to get people to ruin their DCs! Just because YOU got lucky doesn't mean everyone will. Oh, that and he only wants the two games he already owns.
Uh, Dreamcasts play CDs perfectly well, so I don't know what you're talking about (as usual). Sega wouldn't have added a CD music player in the console if it didn't work perfectly fine. I've played plenty of CDs on my Dreamcast with no probelm whatsoever, and I don't know anyone whose DC broke from playing a CD.

Where do you get all of your completely false information from? Some magical well of idiocy or something like that?
What? I've read many different accounts of the Dreamcast becoming misaligned due to reading CDs as though they are DC disks (attempting to read it using that method rather than audio CD style), and people massivly regretting this. I've even said this before in the old TC and listed some examples of this.
Uh... DJ, you're insane... how in the world would a CD mess up a DC? I don't think its done that before for the large number of people with burned DC stuff... :)
That's just crazy. I know dozens of people who have the same NES emulator that I have (LS being the one who told me about it) and have never heard anything about it ruining their Dreamcast.
Hmm... to be honest I always had suspicions myself...

Still, when I read this sort of thing in many articles at tech websites, it suggests such a thing could possibly happen. It's moving parts after all, and the disk to an extent controls the movements, so if a safety isn't put in, it could possibly do this I imagine...

Regardless, what you suggest means illegally owning a bunch of OTHER ROMs, not just the ones one already owns copies of.
DJ, we don't need to hear your anti-ROM rant again, okay? There's nothing wrong with owning ROMs for games that you can no longer buy from the companies that made them!

How else do you suggest I play old NES games like Star Tropics? My brother sold all of our NES games a loooong time ago, so don't give me that crap.
Well we don't need to hear your pro-ROM rant again, which is the only reason you even bring up this stupid DC ROM disk at every single possible oppertunity, when nobody asked.
Look DJ, if someone mentions a ROM you don't have to add your own little comments about them. I don't give a damn whether or not you approve of them, so shut the fuck up. LL mentioned how he'd like to own the first two Zelda games so that's why I brought this up. Why don't you mind your own damn business for a change and quit with the sanctimonious bullshit.
DJ... being against roms is just stupid. At least for old games, certainly. I mean... how in the world is 99.9999% of the population ever supposed to play any old games for any older systems except by emulation? The price to get it yourself is high and often those older systems break easily... and anyway its all used stuff so its not like a penny is going to the actual companies anyway. So I have no problem whatsoever with emulating anything not on the market anymore... exact same thing as abandonware. If no one can profit, there is no harm at all in getting the games. Otherwise I'd have no way of playing all the old, impossible to find, classics... which would be tragic.

Now for games currently available (new), its quite different... the arguements for emulation are a lot weaker, because you CAN get them yourself. For some people there's no reason... except money. Like me. I admit I have N64, PSX, and GBA roms... but I spend all my money on videogames already! I couldn't possibly afford to get anywhere near all of the games I wish I could! That is a decent reason, I'd say... especially when essentially all of my money goes into games as it is...
It's so funny when you guys argue. It's always "I am right and you are a complete fool."

I appreciate the offer OB1. If this Zelda compilation disc doesn't work out, maybe I'll get back to you. I would love to play the old Zeldas without going through the hassle of emulating them and playing with a keyboard. Blech. Although technically it is illegal to download even a game you won (legally you must make the copy yourself), I think that's pretty stupid and wouldn't feel wrong about playing the Zelda games.

I too have heard that playing burned discs on your DC can mis-align the laser, and I think it might have even been LS who told me. I'm certainly not an expert on the subject, and I know you can play real cds on your DC. But I know that many of my older (say pre-2000) cd players around the house CANNOT play burned discs. If they can even recognize that there is a disc in there, it often takes a minute to load in between songs. Again, I don't really know, but DJ did not just pull this out of thin air to make a point against emulation.
How so? ABF actually gave good reasons as to why in certain cases emulation is alright, while DJ is the one who simply said that ROMS are bad and left it at that. She has yet to to show off her self-proclaimed supreme debating skills.

I've never heard of a burned CD destroying a DC, and if it really is possible then it's probably so rare that you'd be better off worrying about a herd of wild goats eating your Dreamcast.
Yeah, I gave a well-reasoned arguement for emulation... hardly "I'm right and you are a complete fool". As OB1 said, its now on DJ to have a rebuttal... which, of course, knowing DJ, will never come. :(
Well she's too big for that, silly. It's below her. :roll2:
Yes, I know... silly me for hoping for a response to my comments...
I don't think owning Snes and Nes is really that wrong since
the companies aren't selling them anymore.
Yeah I know. And really, I doubt the developers would be happy about no one ever being able to play their games again since they're not readily available anymore.
Huh, how shocking... DJ didn't reply either here or in that other thread where we critisized her for refusing to argue! Amazing!

...ly annoying...
Ah but what can you do?
We could...send an army of vampiritic monkeys, disguised as nazi-communistic sheep, to DJ's house!!
Oh yeah, that always works...

And OB1... its just so frusterating!
I know that just as well as you do, bubba!
Is that supposed to make it less irritating? :)
Dunno
You sure like that smilie... Erm
Nerner
I still think the vampiritic monkeys plan would work... :S
How nice, OB1... :)
Just showing off the new smilies...
