Disproving the existence of a god is impossible, But disproving specific gods believed by people is something you can do.
I hope and desire that 90% of the populous will be empiricists that won't accept anything without strong irrefutable evidence be it secular or religious beliefs.
Ignorance is not bliss , Especially when your "beliefs" are so burdensome that they rob you of your happiness and your sanity,You only continue to follow them because you fear god more then anything else and are bound by internal and external pressure , Some people are emotionally weighed down worrying about the salvation of loved ones,One example is Islam and Catholicism were both hold as a tenet that "suicide"(non-homicidal) will land one soul straight into hell or purgatory forever.
Not everyone grows up in the UU church , Some of us get trapped socially and psycologically in "close communities" were association with anyone outside the faith is discouraged, Its true that in my case I was unlucky to be in the "extreme spectrum" and most people don't grow up like that, but Its out there.
