Not all Genesis 2 systems have inferior sound according to that thread I linked above, and the last model of the Genesis 1 was apparently a "stinker" with the worst sound of all of them. Generally speaking, most models of Genesis 1 have better sound than most models of Genesis 2. The same is true of the video.
I edited my above post so it may have been missed, so I'll repeat it here. According to that thread, the very last model of the Genesis 2, the "VA4", has even better video than the first Genesis 1 model, and sound ALMOST right up there with the first model Genesis 1. (That's to be expected, as it actually goes back to the Yamaha for it, and actually wires it up correctly unlike the VA3.) I have to qualify it as "almost" because of it having a little weaker bass than the original model. I am curious if just boosting the bass in the audio system would solve that issue, and I also wonder how much of an issue it actually is. More importantly, the sound is both accurate and balanced, something the rest of the Genesis 2 models get wrong. Considering the stereo setup and how complicated wiring it all up can get anyway, and the video being superior, I think that Genesis 2 is the one I'll be hunting down. I'll likely need to search locally, because most online sellers just aren't aware of these details.
Also, cosmetically, the 32X actually looks decent on a Genesis 2 because it looks symmetrical.
