Yeah, well, it didn't seem to do that. A little annoying.
As for Genesises, yeah, it is annoying that for the best sound you need a model 1, because as you say that system has other drawbacks, most notably the mono-only audio out on the back that necessitates that genesis to sega cd mixing cable to get stereo audio. What you cite about what you found about 32X audio is interesting -- I do read Sega-16, but I didn't remember those details. Sounds like there is no way to get fully stereo audio out of a Genesis 1/CD/32X combo, huh? That's really annoying! One more reason to like the Genesis 2, maybe the sound quality is worse but at least it's all in stereo...
Also, of course, it means that you have a Genesis that doesn't quite match your Sega CD, because I agree with you that the model 2 Sega CD is the better one. The Genesis 2 matches it perfectly, but the Genesis 1 doesn't, it's taller and longer. I think I have one of those extension blocks somewhere (when I got my Sega CD it came with it), but I'm not sure where, as I've had my Genesis 2 hooked up to it since I got it... I'm not sure if the better sound is worth the other hassles and drawbacks that come with using a Genesis 1. Maybe, maybe not.
Also, I got one more PC game in Steam's summer sale. It's another of their daily deals (there are a bunch each day remember).
