No I did not. I only found out about the 100 dollar cube thingy thanks to a link to an article about it at news sites. Didn't read it because the article's link name said it all, I had assumed.

    ...

I meant it wasn't obvious that he was talking about the human stupidity, because that's what I thought ABF was commenting on. I thought he was making a comment about it being obvious you meant that.

Yeesh, the irony here disgusts me.

No, I was commenting that it was obvious that he was commenting about how stupid people are! :)

Then I said that in this case, I disagree. It doesn't say that people are stupid to say that they are actually paying the same price for the system when they now can CHOOSE which games to get... what if they want a $20 game and a $30 game instead of one $50 game, huh?

Oh come on ABF it was only a low calibur handgun... Just a .44 magnum is all.

There aren't a whole lot of $20 Cube games worth buying, and few $30 for that matter. A $20 Cube game is a third-party game that wasn't any good and didn't sell too hot, except in the extreme case when it's a game that the other consoles had and it is now $20 on one of them.

As for the thirties, I can't help but wonder why. Nintendo has to know that Sony's Greatest Hits sell like spring water in the central Sahara both because of the price and because the lineup is very good. So why is Nintendo's Players Choice selection both ten dollars higher and ten times smaller?

Was it OB1 who said Nintendo just likes being in last place? Sometimes I can't help but agree.

Indeed, Nintendo just doesn't seem to want to be in the lead, or even number two. There is absolutely no reason for their Player's Choice titles to be $10 more than Sony's and MS's. Nintendo also should have followed Sony's decision to make all first and second-party games only $40, but that would be aggressively competiting with Sony and we can't have any of that!

Even some third-party games. Silent Hill 3, for instance, was $40.

To be fair, Nintendo is lowering the prices on some of their Players Choice titles. Luigis Mansion, Pikmin, and Resident Evil will soon be (or have already been) lowered to $20, to correspond with the inception of Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, and Mario Sunshine.

Sunshine, Prime, AC, and Melee will still sell for $30, which is completely unnecessary. The price drop is because you've made ENOUGH money off the game that you can afford to cut the price, and then get the money from people who wouldn't buy it at full price. Nintendo is being incredibly foolish for starting their GH titles at $30, but at least they're lowering the price on some of them.

Yeah... there ARE $20 games worth getting. Some Player's Choice titles are $20... and some more are $30. And there are a bunch of decent third-party games in that price range... not to mention used games, if you go to the specialist retailers...

Oh yeah, I think Mortal Kombat: Dark Alliance will soon be a $20 Player's Choice title.

On a related note, there are still a bunch of N64 games selling used for over $20. Erm

Well some used NES games also go for that, if they are rare and popular enough.

Also to be fair, Nintendo is beating the other two on console price, which seems to be working very well.

I will admit, they're going down... just last December, for example, Mario Kart 64 and Banjo-Tooie were $30... and hadn't dropped in price in years... now they're $20, and Banjo-Kazooie was $10! But still... it seems like a lot. But some games are cheap... of course, most of them are bad...

Oh yeah, and the GameStop in the Maine Mall has about fifteen copies of Superman 64... :) All the stores with used games have dozens of wrestling games, but that was special... they even had a copy of Carmageddon! :D

Toys R Us has been selling off stock of Paper Mario for a measly $10 a pop. Check your local TRU to see if they have it.

Last week might have been the first time I'd ever seen Mario Kart 64 for under $25...

Oh yeah, and Gamestop sells used consoles. A whole lot of PSX'es and PSOnes, some Dreamcasts, and a old-style NES... :)

And when I got Paper Mario in December '01, it was $50... but that was almost two years ago and it was a new boxed copy.

Yeah, the other... makes PORTABLE toast, doesn't it?

In any case, just call the original Playstation the PS1 from now on. Makes things easier. Don't make me count to... 4! (No wait that's a horrible counting number...)

Four is a great counting number, musically speaking.

    17, now that's a rotten counting number.

Not officially. Never was officially (except maybe the name of it when it was an SNES add-on, but that doesn't count). Besides, now it's just confusing, and everyone knows what one means when they say PS1. Too late? Hardly. Most people already call the first one the PS1 as it is. It's only the hardcores that still cling to that outdated name. Before the PS2 came out I just called it the PS.

I thought it was at some point... its just that some time later they decided they disliked it. It was way too late by then... and trying to change it NOW? Its just dumb.
