Sorry buddy, but religion isn't going anywhere in your lifetime, nor your childrens, nor your children's childrens, nor your descendants hundreds of years from now. It's simply too ingrained in humanity's history to simply evaporate. People will always believe, whether you tell them to or not, and will pass those beliefs on. Religion will likely never die. You don't have to like it, but you might as well live with it.
Don't be so sure. Cite any decent study and you'll find an ever more agnostic society. There are more agnostics and atheist in America and the west than ever before. This trend is increasing.
Besides, isn't false hope better than no hope at all?
That's an entirely different philosophical argument. Ignorance is bliss, is that what you're saying? So, if reality is too harsh, just live in a fruity la-la land? I cannot accept it.
Trying to disprove something impossible to disprove... is it really worth the effort, when you cannot succeed?
I don't need to try to disprove it. It is self-evident to anyone with a mind. I say "I believe what I see and can empirically prove." They say, "I believe in invisible deities that nobody has ever seen." Really--HONESTLY--who has to prove what to whom? Are you blokes familiar with my friend the Flying Spaghetti Monster?
