Yeah, a lot of it had to be done on a computer. (There's no way someone could've drawn that ship by hand.)
The Simpsons really began to decline when Mike Scully took over writing around Season 9. He ran the show up through Season 12. The show improved a little bit after he left, but not a whole lot. Season 16 was mediocre from what little I saw. (Like Darunia, I would sometimes see it if I was early for the new Family Guy.)
I have the first six seasons of The Simpsons on DVD. Now these are funny! The first two seasons are sort of okay, but the ones that follow are great, especially Seasons 4 and 6.
