Sorry, but no. I don't know how much you can compare webcomics to newspaper ones -- they are quite different, after all, often being comicbook or manga inspired with continuing stories, etc, while most newspaper ones are single-strip stuff -- but as much as you can, Calvin & Hobbes is still one of the best. 8-bit? Sure, that's very funny, but does it have the variety of Calvin & Hobbes? No. The great artwork? No.
I didn't actually buy many of those comic collections for myself -- mostly those were gifts and stuff over the years -- but still, I'd definitely consider them worth the money, especially the ones with Watterson's comments in them... and there's just the fact that it's much more enjoyable to read a comic on paper than it is on a computer screen. Like books.
