Western developers like the DS

And I bet that DS cards will go most of the way into the system, so addons wouldn't really work. And anyway, they're just so small and thin! I see no possible way it could work?

I don't think it would be that hard to add an extenstion that would reach past the exterior of the DS with a light sensor on it. Size doesn't really have anything to do with it at all. You could have a DS cart attached to a Buick and still be able to insert it into the DS...it'd just be really hard to move around while playing.
