Quote:Oh ABF, I wasn't calling Wood Man a mini-boss in MM2. Oh no. He's easy enough with Metal Blades of course (as are Bubble Man and even Metal Man, ESPECIALLY Metal Man), but he's still a major boss. No, I was talking about MM8, the PS game. Well, Saturn version. In that version, as an extra, they stuck in Wood Man and Cut Man as hidden mini-bosses for finding some of the bolts. (Oh yes, in MM8, the bolts are limited, limited in such a way that you can't buy EVERY upgrade at the shop, so you have to pick and choose what you want most.)
I meant that Wood Man is really easy and could almost be called a miniboss... :)
Especially in MM2 for GB.
Quote:Anyway, I so want this collection. Sure, the series had it's last major innovations in MM4 (hidden powerups you didn't have to get and the Megabuster, GREAT ideas as well that did make MM4 a very fun game), but they are all pretty fun. I still sorta treasure MM2, but hey it's hard to really decide if I like that, MM3, MM4, or MM&B the most. Actually, yeah I better put MMV for GB in there. The "Worlds" games (as they are called in Japan, the Rockman Worlds series) really reached it's pinnicle there, as far as my experience with ONLY that game (and reading general commentary from other people). Anyway, I'll certainly get both these collections eventually, though not yet. Well, that was pretty much a carbon copy of the opening post...
It's called "Mega Man Anniversary Collection", for GBA. Same name, but it's the collection of the 5 GB games. I've played 1, 2, and 4 on GB and 5 a little in emulation and they're fantastic. I highly recommend it, definitely.
Quote:Anyway, when it comes to Dr. Wily vs Sigma, well totally different things there. The original series was so light hearted in general, while the X series got all serious. It's hard to believe that they are both in the same timeline, but they are. There's a very clear reason why a big famililar W flashed on Zero's head crystal and he suddenly snapped.
Wily vs Sigma sounds like a good game title... :)
Oh, and X is serious, but the story has major problems making sense at times and has so many plot twists that sometimes it's tough to take it as seriously as I think they want you to. :)
Quote:Generally, I'm surprised I managed to stay interested in a series that has, more than many other, just recycled the exact same formula to the ends of time. It's just such a perfect one though! However, one thing. The Zero series really has taken it in a new direction. I would like to see more original sub weapons though. As it is, there are generally 3 or maybe 4 and the only thing that can be added is an element type. If I were to make one, I'd have each of the robot master's weapons be somewhat customizable, with the various customizing bits hidden around the stages. So, one could make that lightning subweapon suddenly shoot as a straight bolt, or as rapid shot, based on the add-on. I think that'd be fun, maybe... It would certainly be new
Yeah, I complained about Age of Empires II copying the first game, and about how so many sequels are the same as the games before them, but MM has certainly more nearly-identical sequels than any other game (across the various serieses), yet I also still find them really fun... strange, that, and a sign of how incredibly well designed they are.
