Quote:Non sequitur. Who says I dislike animé because of variety. American TV shows are a huge, 70 year-old world...it's....it's HUGE! It's like everything, how can one even say they don't like "american TV shows". Animé, despite your best attempts at exaggerating it, is simply a form of Japanese animation, albeit a growing one.
Wrong. Anime IS Japanese animation. Anime ecompasses a very broad range of genres including: mecha, romance, action, adventure, fantasy, sci-fi, comedy, detective, porn, and many sub-genres.
Astro Boy is considered to be one of the first animes and it came out exactly 40 years ago, so anime isn't so new concept.
Quote:I'll admit, only Lupin (and I liked it)...well, that and "Little Nemo"...that 10-year old gay kiddie movie. I suppose the dislike of animé stems from a fear of turning into more of a nerd (since it garnishes a Star Trek-like nerdism)...and...well thats all I guess.
Just great. You're excuse for not liking it [depsite only having seen one movie and one series] is that you're afraid that watching more of it will turn you into a mindless fanboy. Hoo boy.

Quote:Having only seen two anime shows ever (Little Nemo as in Little Nemo the Dream Master? That happens to not be anime at all if you mean that.)
I think he means Little Nemo Adventures in Slumberland, which is sort of anime, it was directed by a Japanese guy and it's country of origin in Japan. But it's original language is English and it was written by Ray Bradbury. So it's kind of hard to tell.
