Second. Yeah, you proved our point. You look like a total moron to say "I hate anime!" then say "I've only seen one kid's movie and a show I like". That makes you look SO STUPID... it really isn't smart.

I watched Princess Mononoke (rented the DVD...), two episodes of You're Under Arrest, and an episode of All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku today. :)

Lets just say that those second two are ... a bit different ... from the first one?

Non sequitur. Who says I dislike animé because of variety. American TV shows are a huge, 70 year-old world...it's....it's HUGE! It's like everything, how can one even say they don't like "american TV shows". Animé, despite your best attempts at exaggerating it, is simply a form of Japanese animation, albeit a growing one.

Ah, you know this because of your broad experience watching the genre!

Sorry, but no. Anime has a LOT of variety... comedy, sure. But its got sci-fi, fantasy, porn, drama, serious stories, etc... all the genres, except reality TV shows. :)

If you think that anime doesn't have variety or depth I highly recommend going and renting Princess Mononoke. That's a great movie. Not a great animated movie... but a great movie that happens to be animated.
