ABF: What I meant to say is, the real reason Obama was even nominated is because he's Not Bush. There are people all over the world who risk their lives and livelihoods in real, physical effort to achieve peace. I'm talking about aid workers in Darfur, the Iranians who rose against their tyrant this summer, the people who travel to overpopulated Indian hellholes so that they can administer medical care--yet, the award is given to a man whose greatest contribution to world peace was inviting a white cop and a black professor to sit and have lunch in the same room together.
Of course, if it's awarded to blowhard propagandists (Al Gore) and terrorists (Yassir Arafat), the Peace Prize obviously is nothing more than a tool by which people can grind political axes. Given that, Obama's win isn't surprising at all.
