    From Magic-Box:

Quote:- Nintendo of Europe confirmed that a GameCube version of Paper Mario (Super Mario RPG) will be coming out in the first half of 2004.

YESSSS!!! This is some the best news I've heard all year! Paper Mario is one of my all-time favorite RPGs, so if Intelligent Systems is working on the GC sequel I'm going to be the happiest man alive next year.

Yeah, I heard this yesterday. We still don't know if it's a remake or a new game. I'm sure it will be a new game, but either way I'm excited.

It better be a new game. Enough with the remakes already!

Sounds like a port. Did Europe even get Paper Mario? And why is Super Mario RPG in parenthesis beside the game's name? It doesn't say "sequel to" as well, so is this actually a remake of Super Mario RPG or Paper Mario, or a sequel to the Mario RPG series? That whole thing confused me and I can't make out what on Earth they mean, just like the rest of the British version of English actually...

Europe didn't get Mario RPG, so it would be nice if it were an updated version of Mario RPG and Paper Mario. I'd still rather have a full sequel, though. Nintendo really needs to port over Mario RPG to the GBA.

    Woo-hoo!

    *throws Mario shaped confetti*

I only rented Paper Mario, but what I did play I enjoyed immensely. Only reason I didn't buy it was, well, I was unemployed at the time :). That situation has been pleasantly rectified and I shall anticipate this game greatly.

TRU is selling Paper Mario for a measly $10, so you should see if they have it over there.

Hmm...seems like too much trouble to me to dig out and hook up my N64, and besides that, I don't think I'd have room to set it up, and moving the GC or PS2 is not an option :D.

No thanks, I'll wait until this one comes out.

Actually, since we don't know if it'll be a remake or not, it would be best to hold off on getting the game until more is known. That's a whole ten bucks we're talking about here!

Awesome! Paper Mario is a great game, and a major-system sequel is great news...

I haven't played much of Mario RPG, but I do have Paper Mario. Its just such a great, charming representation of the Mario world... its all there and just as it should be. A great game with great atmosphere... they really did a very good job of making it feel like MARIO.

Indeed. It felt more like the 2D Mario games than Mario 64 and Sunshine did. And that's not because of the flat Mario. I'm talking about tone, charm, and atmosphere.

Yes, and indeed if you HAVE Mario RPG you need to play that one too! That one also does an excellent job of representing the charm of the Mario world. Yo'ster Isle is just too cool.

Mario RPG doesn't do the look of the Mario world as well. Oh, sure, it looks nice, and Mario-ish... but it looks like a new interpretation of the Mario graphical world. It takes some getting used to, as the style is different from what we'd seen before... Honestly, my first impression of its graphics (note that I played this one after playing Paper Mario, and emulated) were that I didn't like them all that much... I'm sure they grow on you, though. So no, unlike Paper Mario it doesn't do a spot-on MARIO.

Paper Mario does. It has a absolutely flawless representation of the world of Mario. As you say, OB1, its tone, charm, and atmosphere are spot-on with Mario... which is of course just one reason that its such a great game, but its a pretty good one. :)

Hmm.. Now let's all find reasons to complain!

I think the Paper Mario series lacks depth. :(

    Some sort of insult?

    No..

Although if you add the "stupid" in front of it, then I could see how it could be interpretted as an isult.

But you could just as easily say "stupid Americans" or "stupid people that live under Canada and above Mexico". I've come across many people from the UK and Australia who think that we're offended by the word "Yank". I just smile and let them live in their ignorance.

I think perhaps you're the one living in ignorance. I think the term "Yank" just became a colloquialism for American, rather than an attempted insult.

Or did these people tell you that it was an attempted insult? Because I've never heard it used as an insult, at least not without a derrogatory adjective thrown on the front of it.

Though if you called someone from the south a "Yank", would that offend them?

BTW, I did say "Stupid americans".

And it certainly is NOT just as easily. Yanks is merely one syllabol, whereas Americans is a whopping 4! And don't even get me started on the 15 that makes up the rest of the pure craziness you spewed out.

I know that's what you said; I was just trying to point out the fact that Yank is--in the eyes of many Brits and Aussies--an insult by itself.

Believe me, these people used the word Yank by itself and intended it to be an insult.

The flue? Would you mind relocating yourself away from me. I was planning on visiting a lady friend tonight, and I wouldn't like to give her the influenza in addition to the syphollis that she is already carrying, a ho ho!

Annoying because some well known clan (well, team is the proper term I suppose) in a popular game chose to call themselves that?

You just don't understand in any way how some people feel about sports teams... and Red Sox fans are among the strongest supporters of their team anywhere. I immediately think a bit less of someone if they have Yankees clothing on, for instance...
