*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 22nd August 2003

From Magic-Box:

Quote:- Nintendo of Europe confirmed that a GameCube version of Paper Mario (Super Mario RPG) will be coming out in the first half of 2004.

YESSSS!!! This is some the best news I've heard all year! Paper Mario is one of my all-time favorite RPGs, so if Intelligent Systems is working on the GC sequel I'm going to be the happiest man alive next year.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - The Former DMiller - 22nd August 2003

Yeah, I heard this yesterday. We still don't know if it's a remake or a new game. I'm sure it will be a new game, but either way I'm excited.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 22nd August 2003

It better be a new game. Enough with the remakes already!

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Great Rumbler - 22nd August 2003

This IS great news! Paper Mario was an really cool game!

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Dark Jaguar - 22nd August 2003

Sounds like a port. Did Europe even get Paper Mario? And why is Super Mario RPG in parenthesis beside the game's name? It doesn't say "sequel to" as well, so is this actually a remake of Super Mario RPG or Paper Mario, or a sequel to the Mario RPG series? That whole thing confused me and I can't make out what on Earth they mean, just like the rest of the British version of English actually...

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 22nd August 2003

Europe didn't get Mario RPG, so it would be nice if it were an updated version of Mario RPG and Paper Mario. I'd still rather have a full sequel, though. Nintendo really needs to port over Mario RPG to the GBA.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - EdenMaster - 22nd August 2003

Woo-hoo!

*throws Mario shaped confetti*

I only rented Paper Mario, but what I did play I enjoyed immensely. Only reason I didn't buy it was, well, I was unemployed at the time :). That situation has been pleasantly rectified and I shall anticipate this game greatly.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 22nd August 2003

TRU is selling Paper Mario for a measly $10, so you should see if they have it over there.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - EdenMaster - 22nd August 2003

Hmm...seems like too much trouble to me to dig out and hook up my N64, and besides that, I don't think I'd have room to set it up, and moving the GC or PS2 is not an option :D.

No thanks, I'll wait until this one comes out.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 22nd August 2003

But you don't know if it's going to be a remake or not, so get off your lazy ass and buy the friggin' game! :hammer: :p

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Laser Link - 24th August 2003

Can I get a W007?

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - EdenMaster - 24th August 2003

You can indeed.

W007.

Chuckle

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Laser Link - 24th August 2003

Thank you. :D

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Dark Jaguar - 24th August 2003

Actually, since we don't know if it'll be a remake or not, it would be best to hold off on getting the game until more is known. That's a whole ten bucks we're talking about here!

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - A Black Falcon - 24th August 2003

Awesome! Paper Mario is a great game, and a major-system sequel is great news...

I haven't played much of Mario RPG, but I do have Paper Mario. Its just such a great, charming representation of the Mario world... its all there and just as it should be. A great game with great atmosphere... they really did a very good job of making it feel like MARIO.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 24th August 2003

Indeed. It felt more like the 2D Mario games than Mario 64 and Sunshine did. And that's not because of the flat Mario. I'm talking about tone, charm, and atmosphere.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Dark Jaguar - 24th August 2003

Yes, and indeed if you HAVE Mario RPG you need to play that one too! That one also does an excellent job of representing the charm of the Mario world. Yo'ster Isle is just too cool.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - A Black Falcon - 24th August 2003

Mario RPG doesn't do the look of the Mario world as well. Oh, sure, it looks nice, and Mario-ish... but it looks like a new interpretation of the Mario graphical world. It takes some getting used to, as the style is different from what we'd seen before... Honestly, my first impression of its graphics (note that I played this one after playing Paper Mario, and emulated) were that I didn't like them all that much... I'm sure they grow on you, though. So no, unlike Paper Mario it doesn't do a spot-on MARIO.

Paper Mario does. It has a absolutely flawless representation of the world of Mario. As you say, OB1, its tone, charm, and atmosphere are spot-on with Mario... which is of course just one reason that its such a great game, but its a pretty good one. :)

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - lazyfatbum - 25th August 2003

Well shit the bed! How's that for a poke in the asshole??

Hmm.. Now let's all find reasons to complain!

I think the Paper Mario series lacks depth. :(

*bud um pish!*

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - lazyfatbum - 25th August 2003

I think Paper Mario tries to be an RPG, but falls flat.

*bud um pish!*

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - lazyfatbum - 25th August 2003

I mean, the plot is so two dimensional...

*bud um pish!*

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - lazyfatbum - 25th August 2003

What did the three dimensional cube say to Paper Mario??

"Rectum?? Nearly killed'em!"

Okay, so I ran out of puns.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 25th August 2003

You didn't like Paper Mario? What the hell is wrong with you??!

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - A Black Falcon - 25th August 2003

That is a very good question...

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Great Rumbler - 25th August 2003

Mmm...If I had to hazard a guess I would say that lazy is only kidding.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 25th August 2003

Yeah I think you're right.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Great Rumbler - 25th August 2003

And why wouldn't you think that? I'm always right! *has gigantic ego*

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 25th August 2003

*has giant id*

...

no wait...

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Private Hudson - 25th August 2003

Stupid Americans..

:(

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 25th August 2003

:erm2:

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 25th August 2003

Don't you mean "Stupid Yanks"? Isn't that what you crazy former convicts like to call Americans because you think that's some sort of insult?

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Private Hudson - 25th August 2003

Some sort of insult?

No..

Although if you add the "stupid" in front of it, then I could see how it could be interpretted as an isult.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 25th August 2003

But you could just as easily say "stupid Americans" or "stupid people that live under Canada and above Mexico". I've come across many people from the UK and Australia who think that we're offended by the word "Yank". I just smile and let them live in their ignorance.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Private Hudson - 25th August 2003

I think perhaps you're the one living in ignorance. I think the term "Yank" just became a colloquialism for American, rather than an attempted insult.

Or did these people tell you that it was an attempted insult? Because I've never heard it used as an insult, at least not without a derrogatory adjective thrown on the front of it.

Though if you called someone from the south a "Yank", would that offend them?

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Private Hudson - 25th August 2003

BTW, I did say "Stupid americans".

And it certainly is NOT just as easily. Yanks is merely one syllabol, whereas Americans is a whopping 4! And don't even get me started on the 15 that makes up the rest of the pure craziness you spewed out.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 25th August 2003

I know that's what you said; I was just trying to point out the fact that Yank is--in the eyes of many Brits and Aussies--an insult by itself.

Believe me, these people used the word Yank by itself and intended it to be an insult.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Great Rumbler - 25th August 2003

Kiss my bum, you stupid A-Mer-I-Cans! *laughs at people in Yank-tanks*

Dunno

So your conversation with him went along the lines of:

What's up ya'll!?

A ho, ho! Jolly Good OB1, what's up ya'll with YOU?

Not much. I've had the flue lately, and I can't seem to shake this crazy Scandinavian accent.

The flue? Would you mind relocating yourself away from me. I was planning on visiting a lady friend tonight, and I wouldn't like to give her the influenza in addition to the syphollis that she is already carrying, a ho ho!

Fuck you, stupid English git!

You can't talk to me like that, Yank!

HEYYO!! ANYBODY GOT A DORRAH DEY CAN SPARE FOR ME MOM TO BUY HER A CAKE ON HER WEDD'N DAY!? HAIYO!!

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - OB1 - 25th August 2003

:erm2:

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - A Black Falcon - 26th August 2003

Yank... its kind of annoying (Yank - Yankee - New York Yankees... :) ), but not that bad.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - big guy - 26th August 2003

i guess i'd rather have brit or aussi call me a yank than have a yank call me a Mc.

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Dark Jaguar - 26th August 2003

Annoying because some well known clan (well, team is the proper term I suppose) in a popular game chose to call themselves that?

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - A Black Falcon - 26th August 2003

You just don't understand in any way how some people feel about sports teams... and Red Sox fans are among the strongest supporters of their team anywhere. I immediately think a bit less of someone if they have Yankees clothing on, for instance...

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - Great Rumbler - 26th August 2003

I don't like the Yankees. It's their fault that the Rangers could never get to the World Series!!

*GASP*!! Paper Mario announced for the cube! - A Black Falcon - 26th August 2003

Hah, dislike... lots of people dislike the Yankees. But no one hates them quite like we do...
