Quote:In January, Allard and the rest of the Xbox senior executives gathered to write brief statements on what motivates them to come to work every morning. The mission: to inspire the group's rank and file. "Most people put down flowery, make-the-world-a-better-place, Miss America types of things," Allard says. "I wrote: What gets me out of bed and into the office every day is the thought of Ken Kutaragi's resignation letter, framed, hanging next to my desk."

Quote:Year 2: Xbox titles look better than playStation 2 titles as isvs have more time with the graphics part and the overall system. we enhance the system to offer voice chat for multiplayers to further extend our networking leadership … dolphin [Nintendo GameCube] becomes a niche product (toy) and is not covered in the serious gaming magazines. It's a 2 horse race …

Quote:"If we can get the first couple million Xbox 360s into the hands of the serious gamers, we can get to 10 million first," he says. "And the first guy to sell 10 million units wins."

I put this here since it shows MS's mentality in the coming next-gen console wars. Now we know why they're releasing early.

MS releasing Xbox 360 early is either going to give them a huge boost, or really hurt them. I don't see there being much of a middle ground. I don't think we will see a Dreamcast scenario since Microsoft has more resources than Sega ever did, but if PS3 turns out to be a lot more powerful than Xbox (and it probably will be a lot more powerful) and Sony comes up with an online plan on par with Xbox Live there is no way Xbox 360 is going to beat PS3.

Dreamcast, Saturn, Jaguar, TurboDuo/CD-i/3D0 (as early CD systems)... being first (or even early) by a good margin has not exactly always been an assurance of success. :)

Yes, MS is in much better shape than those companies. But still, I just don't see it giving MS an unnassailable lead... at least for Sony. Nintendo, I don't know... but given the popularity of the Playstation, I'm sure it can catch up.

Oh yeah, and I think that's just marketing-speak. I expect they are more realistic behind closed doors...

I guess he's a jerk. No problem, he'll die alone in obscurity like he deserves. Problem solved.

How about a dead decaying fish? That way it would leave a smell behind on his face.

Allard needs to shut his mouth, there's a difference in being excited about your product and being a complete ass.

I think maybe that's what I like about Nintendo, you rarely hear them saying stuff like that about their competitors. Well, Yamauchi did a lot, but he was also insane and I really respected that.

I wouldn't put it past Reggie to fire off some shots at the competition. E3's gonna be fun.:)
