The trailer contains some breathtaking CG similar to that of Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. It's a whopping 42 megabytes, but well worth the download in my opinion. Definitely some really cool stuff. :)
...make an accurate comprehensive timeline of the events in their life based on video game release dates? Sadly enough, by linking major points in my life with video games I was playing at the same time (and often times the two were one and the same :D), and checking release dates found on GameFAQs (after checking out the official game sites I've found that GameFAQs release dates are correct, or at least correct for each game I checked out), I've been able to find out exactly what year I was doing each thing I've done in my life (and using the season I remember it being, be even more specific). I've been surprised how off I was in my memories thinking I knew what year it was (for instance realizing that a certain game was released AFTER the year I remember playing it).
I think this is the nerdiest thing I've done yet...
Holy shit this looks awesome. It's a new anime from Shinichiro Watanabe titled "Samurai Champloo" and it looks insanely cool. Check out the official site here and the kick-ass trailer here.
Quote:February 03, 2004 - Xbox gamers in Japan have been getting some pretty cool stuff with their game purchases, but this would have to be the coolest. Microsoft announced today a special give-away item for those who purchase the upcoming Japan-only "Kasumi-chan" Xbox bundle. 28000 yen will get purchasers a blue Xbox system, a copy of DOA Ultimate, the DVD kit, 12 months of Xbox Live -- and some much needed companionship in the form of a cushion featuring Kasumi in a bathing suit.
The key point about the cushion is its size. At a full 160 centimeters (IGN's Japanese correspondent, for reference, is about 172cm), the cushion offers the next best thing to actually having Kasumi right underneath (or on top of) you. Note that the cushion isn't in the shape of Kasumi -- it just has her full profile on it, front and back. Still, the parts all line up...
Only 5000 of these cushions, and 5000 of the blue Xbox system, will be made, so those in Japan should be sure to get their pre-orders straightened out in time for the 3/25 release. Failure to do so will result in continued loneliness.
Warcraft II should have made the list, It was the second best balanced RTS blizzard has released and Warcraft II was the first game that got people into the hole RTS thing.
Starcraft was the game that pushed the RTS thing further. Yes I know that Dune II was the game were all todays RTS decended from.
Warcraft III was great for extra content and a decent story but it just lacked the polish.
Total Aniliation never played it and only glimpsed at it ocasionally in the store back in 1997 ,but Starcraft was the one that caught my eye to actually buy it. I think Starcraft has had a bigger impact on the genre then TA look at Korea and what it did and it is also the best known RTS in the world.
Microsoft spices up marketing of Xbox in Japan in new pizza-themed promotion.
TOKYO--In Japan, pizzas packaged in boxes that resemble Xbox consoles will be delivered to the doorsteps of customers, courtesy of a new joint marketing campaign from Microsoft and Aoki's Pizza.
For a limited time, Aoki's will offer a menu called the 'Xbox campaign set' which comes with a special pizza and assortment of beverages. The pizza will be split into four parts from the middle to mark an “X” on the pie. Customers can chose different preset topping combinations on each of the four separated pieces (including the interesting-sounding but very common egg and tuna or chicken teriyaki and mayonnaise combos; relatively normal toppings on pizzas in Japan).
In addition to having four different toppings, what differentiates the pizza from others in the company's normal menu is its packaging. Instead of the usual cardboard, the pizza will be delivered in a box that is colored and shaped like an Xbox.
In addition to the cardboard box, each purchase of the 'Xbox campaign set' comes with a sweepstakes card which can be mailed in for a chance to win a free Xbox console and a copy of Amped 2. The campaign is only available in areas where Aoki's is present, primarily the eastern coast of Japan. The campaign has already begun and will run until February 27.
