      My New Computer
    Posted by: DMiller - 18th October 2007, 6:57 PM - Forum: Ramble City - Replies (5)

So last weekend my friend and I tried to fix my old laptop. The power cord wouldn't charge unless I forced it into a 45º angle, which obviously wasn't good for it. So after some soldering we tried to turn the computer back on and only heard the faint sound of the harddrive attempting to start. RIP PowerBook G3. It was 5 years old, though, which isn't a bad age for a laptop. Anyway, I know there aren't any Mac people here, but I have to show off my new baby:

    Relevant Stats:
2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 Ram
160 GB Hard Drive (Not much, but my media files are stored on external drives)
Built-In Video Camera (It took the picture)
The keyboard glows in low-light situations to make it easier to see
Multi-touch trackpad. Dragging two fingers horizontally or vertically simulates a scroll wheel.

The best part is I can finally play computer games again! I have to get myself an XP install disc so I can play the PC games that weren't released for the Mac. Yet another gaming platform I own and will have no time to play!

Quick note: Free Oblivion content (for now)
    Posted by: Dark Jaguar - 18th October 2007, 4:18 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (5)

In one of those really weird marketting decisions, Bethesda is releasing a free content pack for Oblivion containing a fighter-based castle to obtain. I just thought I'd let GR know he'd better download it off of XBox Live because it's only free for like a week.

      Newly Announced Capcom Games
    Posted by: A Black Falcon - 18th October 2007, 2:53 PM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (2)

Mostly not Nintendo, but close enough. Some potentially great stuff here.

    New announcements...

    Street Fighter 4 - ?
    Dark Void - ?
Bionic Commando - PS3/X360/PC (from GRIN, trailer available)
    Lost Planet - PS3 (port)
Commando 3 - XBLA/PSN (sequel to the old arcade/NES/Genesis games Commando and MERCS)
Wii Love Golf - Wii (from the Hot Shots Golf developers I think)

    And re-confirmations on

Apollo Justice - Ace Attourney (Phoenix Wright 4 with a new main character) - DS
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD - XBLA

    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200074 - most titles
    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200381 - Commando 3
    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200059 - Bionic Commando

And then there's this... Okami Wii seems to be happening.

Quote:WHO'S MAKING GAMES FOR NINTENDO SYSTEMS? EVERYONE!

Nintendo Unveils its Incredible Lineup of Games for the Holidays and Beyond

REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 11, 2007 – Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ continue to appeal to every kind of consumer. As Nintendo's list of upcoming games demonstrates, Nintendo has a game or experience for everyone, no matter their taste, age or video game playing acumen. Wii games like Super Mario Galaxy™ anchor Nintendo's lineup for the holidays, as Wii adds games faster than any other system in this generation. For Nintendo DS, Flash Focus™: Vision Training in Minutes a Day and Master of Illusion™ again will make people think of video gaming in a whole new way.

"Because of Wii and Nintendo DS momentum, third-party publishers are supporting our systems like never before," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Their lineup of diverse games is testament to how we make the population of gamers a little bigger every day."

Major publishers worldwide are making games for Wii and Nintendo DS. Shoppers will find dozens of options through the holiday shopping season and into 2008. By the end of 2007, the library of Wii games is expected to grow to 140, not counting nearly 200 downloadable Virtual Console™ titles, while the Nintendo DS library should be nearly 450. The following is a partial list of the upcoming games for Wii and Nintendo DS. Note that game titles and launch dates are subject to change.

      Half-Life 2: Orange Box
    Posted by: Great Rumbler - 10th October 2007, 10:35 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (37)

Yes, it did indeed come out today. I haven't been able to play it very much yet, but what I've seen so far as quite impressive.

First off, HL2 looks great [I'm talking about the original game, not the episodes]. The lighting is bumped up from the PC release, there's a lot more bump-mapping, and the reflections in the water seem to be a lot more realistic as well. Other than that, pure HL2 action all the wall.

Then there's Portal. Ah, yes, Portal. It's crazy fun. CRAZY. FUN. Just the shere amount of crazily awesome things you can do with the portal gun make this one of the coolest games in years. It might even be worth $60 on its own, but, of course, you don't have to buy it for $60 on its own.

So the Wii finally has keyboard support

And not that cheapo support from the last patch, but rather full support throughout the OS. Certainly this will make a lot of things easier. Bit by bit Nintendo is actually adding important features to the Wii.

Next up let's make it a big one. Go for USB hard disk support!

      Phantom Hourglass
    Posted by: Dark Jaguar - 4th October 2007, 3:29 AM - Forum: Tendo City - Replies (6)

I has it now. Graphics are fairly nice, but I will add that if you had issues with how Link looked before, it hasn't improved... I've gotten used to Link himself now though, and the rest of the world still looks great.

Story, as you may well know, is a direct continuation from the ending of Wind Waker.

I can't say much more, not very far, but the game is controlled almost exclusively by the stylus. That includes movement. I'm still witholding judgement but yes this does basically mean a Zelda game of all things is using PC RPG style mouse controls to move your character around. I'm still playing to see if it works as well but I have a feeling OB1 will hate it.

As it stands, I have high hopes for this adventure.
