Woo!! Only 26 days!! I can't wait!!
Was there any doubt Toad would be in the game anyway? I never read any rosters, thus I just assumed he was there. I guess if you had read one and he wasn't then you would find this bit exciting.

Toadette though, that's new. Is that like Smurfette?

This isn't exactly spoiler worthy :D.
Some people are very sensitive to that sort of thing!
*Beaner's inner child beats up Jaggie's inner child*

Only 26 days?? Shit... I gotta find a way to scrounge up some money and fast. :( Hmm... that's about 3 weeks. I could probably find a way to put together 50 dollars by then.

This game is gonna rock, though.
A unique idea for consideration in the future: When someone puts something in spoiler tags, it's usually not a good idea to then repeat the secrets in the next post. Regardless of whether you think it is spoiler worthy, when Nintendo creates new characters as secrets for their new game, it is spoiler worthy. Hint hint . :)
I didn't think it was important in a Mario Kart game to reveal.... anything... actually :D. Oh well.
Wow, OB1 posted news from N-Philes. Just to let you in a little secret, I actually didn't write that story. I don't know why he does it, but sometimes the director posts news under my name. I don't know why, but I digress. Mario Kart in 26 days! Woohoo! Bounce
I'll get it eventually... it looks good enough. Not so sure that its worth full price, though.
*Beaner's inner child tries to beat up ABF's inner child; ends up swinging at nothing*
Quote:Not so sure that its worth full price, though.

:shake:
Can we ban ABF?
Yes!

*bans ABF*
Not...worth..full price? Are you out of whatever mind you may or may not have?

Obviously, our friend ABF does not have the precious memories of Mario Karts past as some of us do. Countless hours spent glued to Mario Kart, MK64, and Super Circuit. Hell, I consider 50 bucks a BARGAIN for the amount of play I intend to get out of this game.

My Wavebird is praying to the Videogame God (Shigeru Miyamoto) that the punishment it recieves from this game will be merciful. Alas for my poor controller, though, I believe this game will get the same amount of controller abuse as Melee, Soul Calibur II, and F-Zero. Games like this are rarer than blue moons, and to not get it ASAP is nothing short of a stonable offense.

*begins stoning ABF*

Everybody try it! It relieves the anger!!
No, I don't own any Mario Kart games. The only Kart game I have is DKR for the N64, and its a pretty good game... I have played Mario Kart 64 a bunch, though. Good game... too easy, and too short, to really make it worth buying, but a good game (that's why I got DKR -- dramatically better single player).

Why is it probably not worth full price? I don't know... it looks like its good, I think kart racers are fun... not as fun as futuristic/arcade ones, of course, but fun. But $50? Seems like a lot for the game... some games are worth that kind of money, but not so sure about that one. Though, I might end up getting it at that price anyway if I don't get it as a gift... :)

But if I was going to the store to buy a racer (a month from now), I'd seriously look at XGRA first. For one thing I think it might be launching at $30...
The insanity must stop! This guy prefers Rush and Extreme G over Mario Kart! Continue with the stoning!

:hammer:
Rush 2049 is definitely better than any Kart-racing game ever. Extreme-G? I don't know... Mario Kart is probably the better series. XG is good, but not as good as Mario Kart, I'd say.
Gah, he's continuing with his insanity!!! Someone do something quick!!
Okay... I really don't want to get into the "how good is Rush 2049" arguement again... I love it and think its one of the best games on the N64 (third, behind OoT and F-Zero X). You don't like it nearly as much. Okay. Get over it! We have different tastes!

And as for XG didn't I SAY that is not as good as Mario Kart? XG2 I think was as good as Mario Kart, actually, but XG3 brings the series down to a level definitely below Mario Kart.

So... how about instead of ranting "insane" you state some coherent positions that I can respond to?
Quote:Rush 2049 is definitely better than any Kart-racing game ever

That reads like a "fact" and not just your opinion.

Yeah yeah I know that you meant "IMO", but you never sound like it.
So why bring it up if we all know that I mean my opinion?
Because you should stop writing like that.
What's the point? It takes a lot more time to say "IMO" every time I make a statement that is obviously an opinion and is it really needed? Of course when I talk about something like a game like that I am talking about my opinion of it...

And you know what? You do the same thing, just as often as I do! Look at your post right before -- you say the exact opposite that I did. How would you like it if I complained about it every time you did that like you do? :)
ABF is insane.
Rolleyes
It's not my fault that you're always drinking the blue Kool-Aid.
I think ABF and OB1 are actually one in the same. One person with two totally opposite personalities needed a place to let his personalities duke it out so he found Tendo City.
Sorry to dissapoint you, but if you read our arguements it should be clear that we aren't the same person...

The IPs are a clue too, you know. :D

And its just dumb to say "you are stupid"... give some details! A position I could respond to... just "you are stupid" is so dumb...
*begins stoning OB1 as well as ABF*

You will NOT turn ths sacred thread, dedicated to Mario Kart, into one of your endless arguments with A Black Falcon! Someone continue the countdown!

NOW!
Now it's only 24 days! Which is slightly less than 25, but slightly more than 23.

Quote:And its just dumb to say "you are stupid"... give some details! A position I could respond to... just "you are stupid" is so dumb...

Okay, Mario Kart Double Dash is going to be an awesome racing and multiplayer kart mayhem game. Therefore, paying $50 is well within the range of what the game is worth. It will be crazy fun and any who play it [barring people who complain about everything] will absolutely love it.
EM, fair enough! I didn't want to start an argument which is why I simply left it at "you're crazy". ABF wanted me to elaborate on that! But alright, I won't do that in this thread.
I'd agree with most of that, GR...
Then...why did...AAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!! Look, don't make me pull out the story I posted in the other thread when you started spouting nonsense about the Garfield cartoon.
If I had plenty of money, I'd get it. It wouldn't be, and isn't, at the top of my list... but it does look like great multiplayer fun. Worth full price? We'll see that after it comes out... how good is the single player? If its on the level of MK64, probably not... but anyway this sounds like a better thing to get as a gift. Cheaper games I can get myself. :)

Still, there are several games I want more. The fact that its near the top of the racing games list shows how that genre isn't too strong on the Cube... that's a good one, but what else is upcoming? Just 1080 and XGRA. :(
ABF's just saying he's poor right now, otherwise he'd get it toot sweet. I've learned to translate him.
But, ABF said that Mario Kart wasn't worth $50, not that he didn't have enough money!
Meaning he HAS 50, but there's other things that deserve it more... I can't think of WHAT exactly. Maybe he's one of those people who think it's a bad thing to starve to death over a video game...
No, meaning that if I had $50 there are other games I'd buy first. Its on the list, but its not on top. :)
Indeed, that's all. He'd probably also get it if he could get it with somethign else (meaning, if it costed less).

Yes, it's confusing, but ABF is lovable that way, like Brak.

THE FEET! I MUST SEE THE CARNIVAL OF FEET!
I never am sure what I'm going to get when I go to the store... unless there's a game I REALLY want, like F-Zero GX or Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. :)

So I often get whatever game I really want and a cheaper game or two...
EGM gave Mario Kart DD two 10's and a 9.5. Nice, eh?
Very. EGM gave it a deserving score... unlike some other games we could mention...
[Image: Number%202%20Pull.jpg][Image: number2.jpg] days left!
WOO!

Yeah some of EGM's scores are just crazy...
That's a pretty good score, not that I doubted it would get anything else. :)

Nice new interview. Fairly long, too...
Only 14 days!!
Yes, and as ABF and I discussed, it seems to me that the people they interviewed often didn't really understand the question, or something was lost in the translation, because some of their answers just don't seem to make sense. That's likely a result of a cross-language interview...
Quote:I'm the deputy manager at EAD, Software Designing Section, Analysis and Development Department at Nintendo, and I have worked on many projects since I joined Nintendo, starting off with Zelda II: The Adventures of Link on the SNES, Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64 and F-Zero GX and also for the Nintendo GameCube, Luigi's Mansion is one of the titles I have worked on.

Zelda II on the SNES, eh? I wonder who made that mistake, CVG or Mr. Sugiyama.

Quote:Sugiyama: As you know, the local area network technology is implemented in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Nintendo will never stop studying and working on the newly emerging technologies. On the other hand, however, current online infrastructures do not allow such rapid-speed gaming to a satisfactory level.

Wha?? Are they all using 56k modems at EAD or something? I've played a bunch of racing games through X-Box Live and I have yet to experience a framerate drop or any sort of lag. Actually, even playing Speed Devils Online on the DC with my 56k modem was pretty damn smooth. Nintendo really needs to come up with some better excuses. This is just getting pathetic.

The saddest part about all this is that the peope behind the Warp Project expect to see 30-60 fps framerates with Mario Kart and Kirby before the end of the month, and that's just from tunneling. If Nintendo had offered an official online mode then it would be even smoother.

Quote:Sugiyama: Clearly this has nothing to do with company decisions whatsoever. We have thought carefully in terms of the nature of the gameplay and we thought it best not to include the online ability for the Mario Kart: Double Dash!!.

At Nintendo it is the game designers who actually decide the company policy. So it is always the designers' intention and clearly from the play ability consideration that those kind of decision are always made.

If the whole anti-online thing really is because of the game designers themselves then perhaps the heads at Nintendo shouldn't let the actual designers decide on such important matters. This is a huge mistake on Nintendo's part.

Quote:Mr Takahashi: We have taken some consideration into the possibility of a 16:9 video option. However, we thought it best to opt for the best possible way to enjoy the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! in the 4:3 screen size.

Another ridiculous excuse. There's no 16:9 option for widescreen tv owners because having a larger image is bad?? What is wrong with Nintendo??!
