Of course the thing is, if they actually start fulfilling their promises, which they can do if they just get rid of the filibuster and start passing act after act after act, then the republicans will never win again. Once people start actually seeing the benefits in their own lives, they'll want to keep those laws in place.
There is one wrinkle. The supreme court can, and sadly will, overrule ANY act congress passes to protect abortion rights. Manchin is lying, of course, and so are the people responsible for the upcoming decision.
So, where does that leave us? I say they do it anyway. Show that they're at least trying and that'll be something. If they actually do the thing, that can affect turnout. But there's more than that. We need to start at the local level. We need to, all of us, PERSONALLY act. Oklahoma is a state where it's going to be illegal, and they may well try to pass one of those terrible "even if you leave the state it's illegal" laws, or one of those "we're going to track your periods and judge you guilty of murder if your periods don't line up to our terrible understanding of your biology" laws. It's awful. Now, I'm not exactly going around dating anyone but I know what I'm going to do. I'm going to help people break the law. I'm going to help with some underground networks and become an accessory to "murder". That's the real world help I'm going to offer. In fact, I think we all have a moral obligation to break the upcoming laws.
