As for the Switch... it's been over a year, it's really weird that it's so bad.
In answer, yes. When you put in the disc, it automatically highlights the game itself, and the games that need a disc have a disc icon overlayed in the corner which lights up when it's inserted. Now for a frustration, there's no way to tell when the entire disc contents has been copied except to listen to the disc to spin down. That initial install is the "game will now start" indicator, but the "game is fully spooled to the hard drive" indicator doesn't exist.
One annoyance they finally fixed is that at some point, they removed the ability to delete messages, by accident. It took forever just to let Sony know it was a problem, because every single time someone posted a complaint about it to the forums, the very first response is "here's how you do it, mods please close the thread". They finally fixed it, and messages can be deleted with a high level of granularity now.
