Starting now! First though, they did a surprise... they announced Earthbound Beginnings. It's a Wii U VC release of Mother 1, the unreleased original "Earthbound" for NES, with a new title so it's not the same as the SNES game. Pretty cool stuff, even if I have heard that the game is very grindey in that old RPG way.

I believe the tournament is over now. They even showed off a new Mario game (Mario maker) at the very end. I just hope Fred Savage and friends made it in time.

It's good news they released an unreleased game after all this time (I say unreleased, but it was fully translated and everything). I believe this is the exact same ROM as the original, so the title screen in-game probably just says "Earthbound" and it's only the icon for starting the game and the in-store description that call it Earthbound Beginnings. The same thing happened when they finally put the original Super Mario Bros. 2 on the VC. They called it Lost Levels even though the title screen still said Super Mario Bros. 2.

Now, we just need to wait for Mother 3. That's a far more difficult task though, as Mother 3 never got an official translation.
