That said, you may not be so lucky. You may want to look into hacking your PSP and ripping all your UMDs (or finding copies in "the usual way"). The games run a lot quicker (as in load times) when done that way. There's also third party SD card adapters to drastically enhance storage space. My PSP is a streamlined little machine now.
I recently obtained the GBA versions of DKC 2 and 3. While the visuals are cropped, washed out, and noticeably less detailed, I appreciate some of the extra content. I also very much appreciate a very Wise addition to DKC3's soundtrack.
So I tried my PSP again, and it's kind of worse than I remembered -- it actually does make a disc-spinning sound for a second, before stopping. The problem is that it does NOT make any kind of laser transport sound, and the laser mechanism very obviously isn't moving at all. Ugh.
