What have I been doing for the past few months? I don't know... Mario Maker 2, watching too much youtube instead of playing videogames, building Legos... and, for a while, buying a somewhat ridiculous number of games. See, in October and early November I got almost no videogames, as I said in my last post.
But then, I started thinking about how many consoles I own that I hadn't bought a game for yet in 2022. The list was several dozen consoles long when I started in mid November. And so, I decided to correct that and buy games for most of them.
Well, it is now January 1. Here's how I did.
systems I have not bought any games for yet in 2022 as of mid November:
Note: an asterisk before the system name means that I've bought at least one game for that console every year since I got the system, whenever that was. My longest streak is for the N64, I've never missed a year for that system since buying one in 1999. No asterisk means I've missed years before since getting the system in question.

And for many of these systems I got several games, not just one. And I got a bunch of Lego sets too. Well, at this point almost everything I ordered has arrived. I'm thinking of getting a few more things, but have not ordered anything yet. I do have some Lego orders to be delivered, and one modern game I'm looking forward to, but most of it is here as of now.
Now, looking at the list of systems I ended up not getting any games for, for most of those I don't care; there aren't many 32X games and the remaining ones are pretty expensive, for example. The Wii U is a system I bought a lot of digital games for last year, so who cares that I didn't get any more disc games. I do not care that I broke the PS3 streak, whatever. That CD-i though... I was going to get something for it, but then after trying to use my CD-i for the first time in a while I learned that it seems to be completely dead now. Considering that I own a somewhat rare model of the system, the DVS VE-200, this is Not Good. It does not display any image on screen and the LCD display on the front of the unit just says DISC and never attempts to spin the drive. Ugh, I wonder what is broken... but given we're talking about me here I don't know if I could figure it out even if I took it apart unless it's really obvious, so I haven't tried to figure this out yet in the weeks since discovering it. I will need to do something eventually, though -- the CD-i's not all bad and I want to have one. I really want to have this model, too, if I can figure out what went wrong or get it fixed or something...
My PSP seems to be broken as well, I discovered this sometime last month. It works fine for digital games but doesn't make even a hint of a sound of reading a disc. What a pain! I have a lot of disc PSP games, I'd like to be able to play them once in a while.
Other than that everything seems to be in working order, though, so it could be worse given how little I've used a lot of my retro stuff in a while.
As for new games, here's the list.
