I have one gameplay related criticism of Diablo II's remaster. They stripped out LAN play entirely. There's no way to play the game with other people outside Blizzard's ecosystem. More and more companies are pulling stunts like this, and it's clear why. They want to pitch their microtransactions to players, and their misguided matchmaking can't do that if you aren't on their network. Local LAN multiplayer is the best of course, since there's no lag and no risk of a disconnect, but more than that, you know it'll work long past when Blizzard turns off the lights on their servers.
