So apparently Android developers can sign there own code with this handy app included in the android development kit.
No Certificate Authority?
While I found it awesome that I didn't have to pay someone like VeraSign my life savings every year for a certificate, it does pose some major security concerns.
Case in point, Abraham Lincoln just wrote a nasty program that erases your Android SD card. Or so the certificate says, Damn Abe I just lost a lot of respect for you.. :D
And, Ryan whats this app you posted on the Android market that replaces all photos with faces in them, with pictures of Danny Elfman sucking a rabid dogs penis.. That's just sick and disgusting and I don't approve!
Being that Android apps aren't screened buy anyone, except a "report malware feature." I'm a little worried about the safety of all my Asian porn , err I mean business documents.
That being said, I'm a little conflicted.. I feel that CA's are a real good thing, you must provide legal proof of identity to get a certificate from one, well at least a respected one. But at the same time, big CA companies having realized how important they are, have inflated the price for that little 12K file to near insane amounts. In some cases thousands of dollars. So sticking it to them does feel really good.
What do you think TC?
