    Get ready for LOL

High Capacity SD cards instead of a hard drive.

Can someone please tell Nintendo that memory cards stopped being cool around the time Microshit showed how wonderfully useful a HDD is? Watch the read problem still plague the damn things as well so you cant store a VC/WiiWare title on it and play from it - so you have to unpack it on to your dash before you can open it just like they do now.

Mmm, smells like retarded. Here's hoping but i doubt we'll see savestates and use of said high capacity cards being useful.. at all. Yunno, like a hard drive would have been.

Blah. If you got GDC news post it here. I'll update as it hits. wtf Metal Gear?

    Nintendo keynote info.

... Sure, a HDD would be nice, but seriously... now they allow 32GB memory cards for storage instead of just the 512MB internal memory? With full save and load support on the cards? Yes, I think this is an awesome, and very, very welcome, addition. And very long overdue, too... it's really great that they're FINALLY doing it! :)

    Available today, too, evidently.

Final Fantasy for NES and SNES is coming to WiiWare as well... we won't get II, III, or V though I'm sure. Pretty pointless, considering that the games can be played on like ten other platforms, including multiple releases in the past few years, but... some people like to keep re-buying the same games, clearly...

Also, they evidently announced a new DS Zelda game. :)

Quote:10:09 a.m.: Iwata wants to satisfy longtime Nintendo loyalists. Nintendo DS game. New Zelda game. Link is riding in on a train. Wind Waker style. Awsomeness supreme. Link is able to direct a sidekick character, an armor-clad warrior, with the stylus. Fights huge crab-like boss. It's called The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Will be available later this year.

    So:

New Zelda: Spirit Tracks - looks like Phantom Hourglass and features a train as Link's vehicle.

New VC cat: Arcade. Mame? ...TMNT? New games already available, unknown if its japan or not.

Update Wii: Get new menu, new SD support (play from the card!)

DSi will invade your life and take your soul, eat your children etc.

Square makes a Wii game: My Life as a Darklord. Best title ever. Nice to see Square developing for a Nintendo console again. Speaking of which, it's finally happening: The Final Fantasy series (starting with original NES FF1) will be available on VC. Watch them release CT the greedy fuckers. 8 bucks for VC and 30 bucks for DS? Why not.

Basically, no big Wii news in terms of software. They showed off Rock and Roll Climbers which looks oddly fun, but nothing great. No core games shown or announced from Nintendo. And we still dont know when Resort and Motion+ will hit. Rumor is that Nintendo is just making new Wiimotes with motion+ built in. Expect Motion+ sold separately for 10 bucks imo. New Wiimotes (if it happens) will probably hike to 50. Expect Resort and other 3rd partry titles to ome with a packaged Motion+ adapter.

All in all, not very eventful. But some interesting things to kick around.

We'll see how well the storage solution thing turns out to be, though... this thread for instance -- how much of it's true?
