That whole "ROB is actually an evil robot trying to kill humans" thing isn't exactly new, I've seen that a lot in the last few years, but even if it wasn't original, he did it well, so sure. I was expecting it and it happened.
Other than that though, it is true that ROB only had two games, and pretty much was a failure. Still though perhaps its original reason for existing succeeded, because Nintendo was trying to show, in a market where the US videogame industry had crashed out and only computers were left for gaming, that console videogames can do more than just play games on a screen, and having a robot did that... once the NES was a success, and ROB had ... obvious limitations, they dropped it. I saw an ROB once, but never have used one... the slow speed it moves at looks like it'd be maddeningly annoying, but it is an interesting idea.
