Morrowind is a clear case of 'why would anyone with a qualified PC buy the X-Box version'. Not for the improved graphics, but for the world creation tools, patches, and the two expansion packs that X-Box people don't get...
Oh, and I do wish that someone had made a better engine than Q3 years ago... it'd be VERY nice to see even medium-sized outdoor areas and automaps (something the Q3 engine seems to not be able to do) again... there's a reason that my favorite FPS is probably still Jedi Knight... :)
Now a game with graphics like JK2 or better, JK2's lightsaber controls, and the level and other game design design of JK1 would be as good as it gets... but that's not what we're getting, unfortunately.
As for Doom 3... great engine. I'm looking forward to what games are made in the engine... I won't get the game, though. FPSes don't intrest me much and the ones id makes just aren't the best or most interesting ones out there...
