Yeah, I considered that. It would have to be a button that isn't used for anything else. Really they could have just used one of her "taunts" and had that direction always switch. It would more or less be just like how Kirby's taunt ditches his copied abilities.
Is the Dragoon from something, or a unique item (like the fan)? It seems like building it is similar to building your ship in Jetpac, but it's clearly nothing like that ship otherwise.
Also, it seems that in fantasy there's a clear deliniation of power level as determined by what color it is. Grey is always weak, then up to red, white, silver, and gold near the top (if someone's glowing gold, they will tear your face off). Then, if they need something more extreme than that, they always end up giving up and just having them glow with rainbow colors (see: EVERYTHING, such as Sonic in Hyper Sonic mode).
