Quote:It's not just because of this little reviews thing, don't make the mistake of thinking that. That was basically the straw that broke the camel's back. It's just that most of you are really unpleasant to be around, and the bad has finally outweighed the good. I see no reason to post here any longer. I can still keep in touch with the people that I like through email or IM, and I can actually discuss videogames with other people at much better places. The one thing that has kept me here for so long has been ruined. How can I enjoy being silly and stupid with people like GR if I'm having to fight for it non-stop? It's not fun anymore. Even if things were brought back to normal, there would still be a really bad aftertaste here.
You're on IM about twice a year, though...
Quote:OB1: I'm sorry that you're leaving. I'm not saying such to be polite or politically correct or any kind of bullshit like that, because part of me truly IS sorry to see you go. You were always helpful in posting video game news and predictions, and it's those posts of yours that I'll miss.
Agreed.
Quote:The posts I WON'T miss are your silly little single sentence/picture/"..." replies. I wouldn't mind if you hadn't pimped out these forums like a chatroom as often as you did, and it started to irritate me, and apparently a lot of others. I wasn't going to speak up about this again, since I didn't think it was worth starting another dumb, huge argument.
Again, agreed... I guess like with most of these issues, I was just more vocal about actually saying something.
Quote:I also won't miss all your inflammatory posts. I can scarcely recall any "debate" you've had, not only with me, but with just about anyone, where you haven't ended up downright belittling the person for having a different opinion than yours. You act high and mighty, as though you're the bigger person in this and it's the rest of us who are acting immature and petty, and it's so ri-god-damn-diculous that I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for you.
It's his nature... I've gotten used to it. Really, I think that this incident was sad... I mean, I know that once you get OB1 angry all you can do is quit, or keep arguing with him until he calms down a bit. The problem is, he angered too many people, and ones who had a lot less patience with him... and we got this, instead of four pages of us being annoyed at eachother. It's too bad, really... Weltall telling OB1 "reform or leave" when he did would never have worked, at that point. He was angry. The key to getting OB1 to accept something, in some limited fashion, is time and volume of posts... he'll eventually declare victory, get tired of the argument or just end it, or something. That didn't happen here because it wasn't just me or DJ he argued with, it was like six people, with Weltall as the most important one...
so yeah, it's too bad, and the way Weltall did it was kind of preying on OB1's nature -- he should have known that in that state OB1 would never make a statement of "I'm sorry" and would, instead, leave!
Sure, there are good sides to him leaving, but I do think the bad outweighs the good, so it's too bad that it got to the point of him quitting.
Six months ago maybe I'd have said 'yeah he should go', but I guess I've just gotten used to how he is...
Oh, lastly, the "return if you can reform" thing. I'd like to think this as well, and definitely hope that if, against my expectations, he does reform, he returns to TC. It'd be great... I'm just skeptical, based on the four-plus years he has been here, of the chance that that will happen. If he hasn't changed much in that time (and he hasn't)... but still, OB1, if at some point you do change, definitely come back. :)
