Quote:Several internet sites have claimed that a new Sonic Mega Collection title is due out on the GameCube, cleverly titled Sonic Mega Collection 2. The new title will apparently contain Sonic CD, Sonic Fighters and more.

There are also rumours that the title will be exclusive to the GameCube. For the time being, and that time is pre-E3, it is all just talk. With any luck Sega will either confirm or deny it during the convention.

Those games should have come with the first collection.

    Yes, yes they should have.

What else could they include on it? I mean, what classic Sonic games are left? They've already brought the GG games (in Sonic Adventure DX), and a bunch of the Genesis games... Sonic CD, of course. Sonic the Fighters (I don't remember this game...). Sonic R for Saturn (and PC). Knuckles Chaotix for 32X. That Sonic arcade game. Anything else?

I would pay $20 for just Sonic CD and Sonic Fighters.

But what they should do is release all of Sonic Team's Saturn games that nobody played (Burning Rangers, NiGHTS) as well as Knuckles Chaotix.

I already have Sonic CD and Knuckles Chaotix. Knuckles Chaotix isn't really that great.

The problem with CD games is space.. GC disks are not large enough to fit four or five CD games on them, I think... so OB1 that's a good idea, but if done it probably wouldn't come out on GC.

Not all CD games take up the full 600 or so MB, though. And even then, would it really cost that much to make it a multiple disc set?

Hmm... but all of those cd games...

Better done on the XB, I say.

But if it's a Sonic Mega Collection, I wouldn't expect many other games... maybe a couple (like how the last one had Ristar), but not many.

Sorry, but that's a different product from Sonic Mega Collection... it'd definitely be cool, though.

Hey, the PS2 and XBox versions of the first collection had a LOT of not Sonic games, like "The Ooze" and "Comix Zone".

Actually, DJ, you just listed the other two non-Sonic games that were included in the other version(s). :) So yes, there were two more games... one great one (Comix Zone) and one okay. And yes, it's sad that we didn't get them. But it is just two games in a collection of which we still got the other 10 or so, so it's not THAT bad...

Sega should release a Sega Saturn Classics collection. It could have NiGHTS, Dragon Force, Shining Force [all of them], Panzer Dragoon Saga, and some other stuff.

Also the others went and included all those Sonic Game Gear games.

Here's what I'm wanting. The next collection should have ALL of those games, yes all of them (it's... it's not hard), and also Sonic CD, and Knuckles Chaotix (GR didn't like it, but I did, and really I think the way it was MEANT to be played was with two people), and I guess Sonic Fighters (whatever that is), and Sonic R, and also... what else... yeah Sonic Jam (which would basically just be a single 3D Sonic level, from what I understand that's the only unique thing Sonic Jam offered, it was the first Sonic Collection is all). I'm sure fitting in Sonic CD (they can compress the music, also, use the fully awesomed versions of those FMVs in the first collection), Sonic R, and the 3D level from Sonic Jam is fully doable. Toss in copies of all the instruction booklets too. Don't bother with any unlocking schemes, just give it all to us from the start. Also, I'd be perfectly fine with NOT having a "history of Sonic" FMV Sega :D, and you can go ahead and not worry about including all those comic book.... covers...

THEN I'd be happy with their lovely Sonic collection.

As for the Saturn games no one got the chance to play, make a Panzar Dragoon collection. Include the first 3 games, and also Nights (with the Christmas bonus). (I'm not going to bother spelling it all weird like that, that's like bothering to spell Fusoya's name with all the weird capitalization.)

    I said that. :)

    (rest of first part)

Yes... it's a bit thinner collection than the first one, but when they put most (all?) of the (Genesis) Sonic games in the first one, and then the GG games (all 12 of them...) in another collection, that's not surprising... all that's left is the other system stuff, and those (CD, 32X, Saturn) had fewer Sonic games... so there's less to port, simply.

Oh... what is Sonic: The Fighters? Never heard of it...

It's NiGHTS Into Dreams (and Christmas NiGHTS), and it isn't THAT hard to spell... :)

Yes, Saturn collections would be great... there were some good games for it, and no one had the thing... I've never played Saturn game, and don't think it'd be worth the effort to get one, but it'd be nice to play some of the more popular titles (pretty much, the ones mentioned so far)...

Sonic Fighters is Virtua Fighter 2 with Sonic skins. :)

And weren't the Gamegear games just on Sonic Adventure DX? Or did they add them to the PS2 and XB Sonic collections...

Why? Virtua Fighter is the greatest fighting series ever. Or do you mean because I said "skins" instead of "models"? My bad.

But yeah, Sonic Fighters is basically VF2 with Sonic characters. Actually, it's basically VF Kids with Sonic characters. VF Kids was basically VF2, SD-styled.

Well, I'd expect different special moves, at least a slightly different fighting system, etc... and yes, you said 'skins' instead of 'models'... yeah, Virtua Fighter has a good system, but I'd still expect more than just a reskin from a new game. :)

Well I'm sure there are a bunch of different moves, but that doesn't contradict my statement that it's "pretty much VF Kids with Sonic characters". "pretty much" doesn't mean "exactly".

I know, most all genres do that... but it can get pretty bad in fighting games at times, especially for the longer serieses... like, I know each of the five versions of Street Fighter 2 is different, but still... :)

Actually your first statement was "Sonic Fighters is Virtua Fighter 2 with Sonic skins.". My LITERAL interpretation of that was that it had Sonic models replacing all the characters, but ALL the characters other than that performed exactly the same, meaning Sonic would fight like frickin' Akira or something. I was just thinking that as a joke mind you. I didn't think it was LITERALLY like that, just humoring the idea. That would simply be silly.

Did I say in my previous post "my first statement was this.."? No, I did not. I merely said "this doesn't contradict my statement", without assigning any number or place.

But anyhow, I've heard plenty of modelers and texture artists casually call them "skins". You know what they're talking about in context.

To me skin means skin, and model means model... the way you said it definitely made it sound like it was VF2 with new skins... which, of course, wouldn't make much sense. 'A new game that plays very similarly based on the same engine' makes a lot more sense.

...so you are saying you took back your first statement?

I was joking about you meaning was that the models, textures ALL of it I really don't care, were Sonic, but other than that it played exactly like VF2, right down to move sets. That's what I found amusing. And really, that would be utterly stupid, but funny in a "that's just stupid" kind of way.

But that doesn't really matter, because it was a joke. I figured you didn't mean it literally at all. So what, like, Sonic's moves involve like dashing around?

All I know is that Sonic Fighters is basically VF Kids with Sonic characters. I don't know how different the moves are, or how simplified it is.

Interesting that you say IE "stinks" when it's Mo that's letting you down right now :D.

OB1: *Something something actually I only read about it* (Look, I'm all the way on page two here, I can't be arsed to go back a page just to copy some text...)

Ah okay, I was under the impression you played it. I was also aware from the start that that was simply a funny way of putting it, and I made a joke off of that. I'm not saying it was funny though.

No matter, at any rate what's the general opinion on it? Any good?

Why, exactly, should I be sad that I don't see those stupid red X'es? No, I have absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, it's a broken image, but you don't even know there is an image there, and you aren't able to like... do the right click thing so you can... see it... Just remember, function kicks form's ARSE every single day of the week until it's a crying mass of failure sitting outside on the porch talking about when it was a model and everyone loved her...

There is no category that IE beats Mozilla in.

Sites incompatible with Mozilla? Yeah, there are a couple. They aren't worth going to. If you're not going to bother to make your site compatible, I'm not going to go there.

Anyway, the only site I can think of that is truly completely incompatible is one run by MS... :D
