Oh, just every time we talk about gamepads... :) You know, how I like 6-face-button pads... the Genesis 6-button is a fantastic pad. The Microsoft Sidewinder is also near-perfect... the N64 controller too. I guess the main argument against 6 face buttons is OB1's that when you're using dual analog you can't use the face buttons much, and that's true, but not that many games use dual analog most of the time, so that's not that important really... six face buttons is so much better for over 90% of games that slight inconvenience for some others (this will always be true for some games, you know...) isn't that bad. But if you REALLY think it's a problem, toss in something like the NGC Z-button... but don't make it four face buttons. It's just an inferior design, and it always has been. The fact that everyone (the console manufacturers that is) thinks it's best is sad...
But yeah, six face buttons is definitely ideal, I would say. Especially when paired with dual triggers, like the Sidewinder... :)
