I don't want a MP3 structure as simplistic as 'by author', though... I want categories. Internet radio in one playlist, burned music CDs in a folder (with subfolders for each CD), and game music in another folder (with those five subfolders full of folders with the music in them)... it is by first letter within each folder of course but I much prefer this structure. I think it's more effective and it's far, far easier than labelling every single track (though I do some of that).
I try to keep my windows file structure organized... though it's not totally perfect and there is definitely some overlap (like how I have wallpapers in one folder (and numerous subfolders) and other miscellaneous images in a seperate set of folders, or the three different 'miscelaneous small downloads' folders on the C drive, or how some DOS games are in the DOS games folder and others are in folders straight on the drive, etc...) for sure I think I do a decent job of it. It's pretty complex, of course, given how many things there are to manage...
