If only there was texture filtering on the DS though...

    But it still looks great!

It won't be as noticeable when you're actually playing it.

Yeah, but you're usually playing that on a big TV, the DS screen is fairly small.

Sounds like this is about the very thing GR and I were talking about a second ago. I THINK the pixelated appearence is an actual physical limitation. If the screen resolution is fairly low, and I forget what the DS's resolution is right now, then it's just a physical barrier that can't be overcome, but will just have to be worked with. If it's actually just limitations of the power of the system, like it was with the N64 and PS1 back in the day where the screen has a higher resolution than the games could display, then it'll just be a matter of people learning to use the system to it's best and it's something that potentially COULD be overcome.

No, it's the lack of a texture filter. The DS' resolution isn't that much lower than most N64 games'.

Yeah, part of that problem would just be the resolution of the screen... I doubt it's too terribly high. Like all the GB's past.

And yeah, 'wow' is about all you can say. This is clearly the graphical leader on the platform.

It has little to do with the screen resolution. Like I said, most N64 games had comparable resolutions.

Yowza, the new video ign has up is pretty dissapointing. Maybe it's the small size of the video or something, but whatever the case is the shimmering problem is really bad. I hope that gets fixed before release.

    Still excited though!

Ya know, the box are for the DS makes it almost look like a tool more than a game system. It has an elegance of form to it.

Then they slapped the Metroid Hunters picture on it...

Can the box art designers not SEE how that totally destroys the whole image they had going with it? Yes, advertise the demo, but stick that on the back of the box or something. Anyone who would be interested in it for the Metroid DEMO is a Nintendo fanboy already.

They NEARLY had totally great box art, then they threw up on it. <img src="http://www.penny-arcade.com/docs/ds_box.gif">

Yeah, it would have looked a lot better without that on the front of it. Mayble I'll wait until they stop packing-in the demo...

You'd actually wait on getting a DS until they released a box a little less ugly?

Okay, I'm not actually going to do that, but it would be great if they released a box without that on the front of it.

And I can't get over how happy I am about the boxes!

The Japense DS box is neat, very minimalistic, although the American version isn't really that expresive either, aside from the giant Metroid sticker].
