    The Freeloader is shipping!!

    Quote:Now Shipping! At long last!
Datel's Freeloader disc is the first product released that claims to allow all-region GameCube compatibility with absolutely no internal hardware modifications. Just put the Freeloader disc in, let the system boot it up, and then switch out with your favorite game.

PAL software running on US or JPN hardware will reportedly run at 50Hz, rather than the NTSC standard of 60Hz.

There are three methods for playing import software:

1- Direct boot of Freeloader from power up, remove Freeloader, insert import 2- Power up Gamecube, drop Freeloader, select Gameplay option, insert import 3- Direct boot Freeloader, press Z button to select region of import, insert import

Datel has acknowledged a problem with PAL GC consoles playing the USA version of Resident Evil Zero, but there is no word on a fix or workaround. This the only game at this time reported to have issues.

It looks like the days of installing a switch in your GameCube to play imports are long gone.

Good news for everyone who plans to import and doesn't want to spend a lot of money getting a foreign GC. Maybe I'll get Doshin now...

Whoa, that's freakin' awesome. How much does it cost, on average, to import one game? This could come in handy...

I'm not really an expert, but it usually isn't too much more than normal. Maybe $10 or so. Sometimes really big games are more expensive I think.

I had not even heard of the Freeloader until recently, and it sounds great. No more messing with the hardware! I don't want anything yet, but maybe soon.
