To be honest I think the little Gamecube bar at the top is very nicely done. I also think the triangle that says "only for" looks fine.
Actually, I think all the title bars this generation look perfectly nice.
However, if you want to complain about an ugly "only for" logo, look at the XBox. That "only for" stamp is just plain ugly, and only fits in like 2 games that have ghetto toxic waste and stamps.
As for this particular box art, I've said before that "noisy" box art is offensive to the eye, and in fact during the N64 era that was my main beef with pretty much all the N64 game box art (especially compaired to Japanese box art). That's not to say it's a bad choice in ALL cases, as I did like the 30 characters all at once shown on the F-Zero X box. Anyway, I have to say that I do like this box art. It isn't nearly as noisy as MGL claims. It has a totally black backdrop as opposed to the hallway in the US box art, but that's replaced with a nice holographic image that looks like a target. So, basically there isn't any more going on in that than the US. However, then we get to Samus. Her pose on the US box is kinda calm and such, like the exploring she does. Her pose on the Japanese box is in mid action. What's she doing? Do you know? Do I know? She's doing something! I'm excited here! It's exciting! In other words, it shows that this is an action packed game. Anyway, both are nice, but I do think that the cool hologram puts the Japanese art way ahead :D. Really...
